Signed by artist Alfred Panepinto (1907-1994) with additional inscription, "24 sheet billboard original" at lower right. Art image area is about 21" x 25" on somewhat larger paper that is watermarked F M FABRIANO and mounted onto cardboard.
A particularly striking and conceptually original composition that is beautifully executed by a master artist — certainly one of his finest illustrations.
Alfred Panepinto was a Harvard University educated architect as well as a working illustrator — his work occasionally appeared on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post.
Two 1930s Panepinto sketches of Hollywood actresses Barbara Stanwyck and Ethel Barrymore were auctioned at a Christies New York Film and Television Memorabilia auction in 1994.
According to an 1988 article in The Morning Call, Panepinto designed the logo for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, buildings for Thomas Jefferson College, Columbia and Villanovea Universities, and the Christopher Columbus Monument in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
