I don't feel so bad haveing downloaded the whole Voyeur series from Kazaa, bluring out the nudity in Final Cut Pro, and then reposting it all under the exact same name. I even threw in some Crocidile Hunter footage just for fun. Krikey! 22 uploads and counting Suckas! BWAHAHAHAHAHA That Rhymes like Lee Ann |

debbism - Thursday, 07/04/02, 12:37:53am (#33 of 48) OK, this is scary in the sense that what I do out on the playa is NOT intended for public consumption. I go to Burningman with the notion that I can break free of the constraints of every day society and I never think about anyone trying video me when showering, or whatever else I do when I am less than clothed. If I ever find that I am in one of these videos from this company, or any other, I would be out for blood!!! I urge anyone who knows if they are in one of these to file suit as well. Just my sense of outrage...I am quite finished now. |

actiongrl - Sunday, 07/07/02, 12:02:18pm (#39 of 48) And when we jam...we don't need no ham. While the fact that the subjects of the Voyeur tapes are nude makes their failure to obtain permission really slimy, and thereby more emotionally charged, the truth of the matter is that the case is about our community's right to establish standards for permission to film at the event and distribute it. If someone were exploiting footage of your art, your theme camp, your great costume, etc., without permission, we'd be in the same position to undertake protecting it if it ran counter to our ethos - Burning Man's right to permit videography, and the community standards of non-exploitation and asking permission before filming or shooting - in this way. Using the ticket binds a ticketholder to the statement printed on it which states that you voluntarily appoint Burning Man as your representative in the event that such a thing happens, understanding that Burning Man is not required to act on it, but may act on it as necessary. These things can usually be dealt with between the subjects, and the filmmaker/photographer. If the subject isn't getting resolution, they may always ask us for advice. I am pleased that the majority of these situations are resolved with simple dialogue and understanding. But in some cases, we have to go further to protect our standards, and that's what is happening with this case. |

If the LLC wins the case, I say we strap 'em inside the man at, say, 8 p.m. or so on Saturday night... |

Badger - Monday, 07/08/02, 3:54:53pm (#41 of 48) Oh, Sweet Irony... Check this little gem out from their web site: http://voyeurvideo.com/reward.htm It's their sqealing little missive on bootleggers and how they're getting ripped off by people copying their porn tapes. Cheezes, I can't believe the BALLS!! Anyway, there are email links and actual phone numbers listed on the page to report illegal pirating acvtivities to the folks at VoyeurVideo. I mean, I'm NOT suggesting in ANY way that the contact information be used to voice your supreme displeasure at their purile activities. Nope. Not me. |

Dusthalo Jones - Monday, 07/08/02, 4:47:47pm (#42 of 48) And CERTAINLY no one should drop some nasty sort of big ol' stanky e-mail bomb down their throat. Oh, no, that would be wrong and immoral, wouldn't it? Nosiree, don't NOBODY do that. |
|
BequiMari - Monday, 07/08/02, 4:48:13pm (#43 of 48) I'd never think you'd ever suggest such a thing. Nope. And I'd never ever ever follow through on such a suggestion. After all, video piracy is a much more serious problem than invasion of privacy. Isn't freedom of information what this country is about? Freedom of information for the FBI, freedom of information for rental car companies, freedom of information used to exploit attendees of a certain "rainbow fire festival" held each August... But never freedom to dance in the streets without being called a terrorist, or freedom to state controversial beliefs in the media, or freedom to shower without the threat of a video camera recording your every move... rant off. --Bequi the FBI says I'm a terrorist* *critical mass and reclaim the streets have been labled terrorist organizations by the FBI. watch out; you could be next. |

President Haynes - Monday, 07/08/02, 7:30:24pm (#45 of 48) Sincerely James O'Brien, President of Voyeur Video, Inc. I was all ready for a big fight about how someone should speak up in favor of V V's rights (not that they have any rights, but everyone deserves a defense). Then I read this guy's letter. Oh my goodness, what an idiot! Someone should invite this guy to the eplaya. Hmm maybe I'll email him that there's a big discussion here and suggest he get into it. herself |

Dusthalo Jones - Monday, 07/08/02, 9:12:37pm (#46 of 48) I think he deserves a steel-toed boot to the balls, but that's just my $.02 -- which, of course, he'll never see. |
