I think one of the elements that is absolutely crucial to the atmosphere of events like BM, and for getting a crowd to exist 'in the moment', is the idea that people won't be judged later. Videotape, while not completely evil, does remind people that they are being watched. Perhaps more people would feel better about getting naked if they knew that their ass wouldn't be compared and contasted to whatever swimsuit model was flashing on the tv before the tape was popped in the vcr..... Another element that is crucial is that everyone present should be a Participant in the situation. Someone who is videotaping is, by definition, an Observer. I also think some things simply shouldn't be documented. But I realize that is just a personal preference. Me and The Button boys had a discussion about whether or not we should listen to the audio tape of our performance while the corn burned. I'm pretty adament that I will never listen to it, because it doesn't have the 'drum circle' sounds, or the crowd screaming, or any other outside sounds. In other words, its a very poor recreation of a moment in time... _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --- End forwarded message ---
