how about support for video files?

winamp plays video. And I have a lot of music videos. It would be nice to have them in the list, and just click to watch and listen.

Right now, I use windows explorer for my "list view". (like I use to do for my mp3's, before mp3boss). There is plenty of room, in list view, at the bottom right for a video window in mp3boss.

What do you think?

Re: how about support for video files?

I was thinking about using that space (for 1024x768 and higher screen resolution) for any embedded pictures...

In the latest release, video MP4 files are detected just like normal MP4 files.  However, when I send them to Winamp -- it just plays the audio.

What kind of music videos do you have?  MPG and AVI?

Re: how about support for video files?

The videos are a mix of formats. I record the streaming wmv music videos off the net, they are small files with good quality on a computer screen. I also have divx, xvid, avi, mpeg, vob.

The good news is I have video converter software. If you support a format, I will convert my videos into that format.

What does everyone else think?

Is there a reason for MP3-Boss to support more formats?  I've been asked to support ALL files too -- is there a need for that?

Before adding more formats...I was thinking I need to add full playlist support.  Comments?

I would prefer the playlist support.

Re: how about support for video files?

I would recommend supporting the files that winamp supports. I think it would be great to have my video files in the list, so I could just click and watch.

Re: how about support for video files?

It would be easy for me to add the files to the mp3-boss List View.  What is harder is to try to create reasonable information for all the audio fields that Mp3-Boss supports.

Would I just try to retrieve audio rates (and times)?  Or would I just blank out that information?  Or would you really want a separate list of video files...without the audio information?

Re: how about support for video files?

I would start simple. So long as they showed up in list view, then add a little as you go. No need to even make a video window, winamp will play the video on top of all other windows in it's own window.

Maybe make the name a different color or something, so it's easy to tell (in list view) that it is video, then when clicked, let winamp handle it from there.
