Any problems with v0.6202?

I have had 1 report of scanning problems with v0.6202 -- anyone else seeing a problem?

If you get a problem with a specific file, please send me the file so I can duplicate the problem.

Thanks!

Re: Any problems with v0.6202?

in profiles, I select to freeze the first 4 columns, but it only freeze the first 3

Strike that......I got it to work by hitting the "Apply" button a few times.

Do you have MusicIP (PUID) enabled during scanning?  If so, my guess is that MusicIP (PUID) was probably having a problem...when MusicIP is unavailable, scanning can take a long time.

If that wasn't the problem...any ideas what might have happened?  Were you scanning selected directories, or all directories?  How many files in a scan segment (10K is the new default)?

Re: Any problems with v0.6202?

I found a problem -- if you updated an earlier version, the ID3v2_WCOM field type might not be updated to a memo field (up to 64KB long) instead of a 255-char text field.  The WCOM field holds URL information, and is sometimes longer than 255 chars -- this will cause an error when you scan a file with a long ID3v2_WCOM field.

I'm working on a fix to the Update program to make sure that the field length is updated.  If you don't want to wait for the updated UPDATE -- a new install (overwriting your original DATA.MDB file) will fix the problem.  However, I hope to have the fix within a few days.

Re: Any problems with v0.6202?

I've created a version of update that I think will fix the problem.

I've sent it out to a couple of people for testing, and then plan to release it within a couple of days.

Let me know if you'd like to test it.  The new version will only make a difference if:
1) You UPGRADED from a version before v0.620
2) You are seeing a scanning error for some files

Re: Any problems with v0.6202?

I've sent you the update by email.

It's also available now at:
http://web.newsguy.com/mccaffjt/update.zip

Before updating, please save your DATA.MDB file (just in case).

Unzip UPDATE.MDE into your mp3boss directory.

Run
Start/All Programs/MP3Boss/Update Data Table

Select the "Force Update" checkbox, and be sure that you have selected v1.08 (or earlier) as the starting version.

This new update should correctly update for field lengths -- and should eliminate the problem you see during scanning.

Let me know how it goes.  I will add this new UPDATE to the next release.

Re: Any problems with v0.6202?

Was this 99957 freeze during the "search for new files" or was it during the actual scanning process (so it actually had completed a few segments)?  Can you send me a screen capture?

If it was sitting at a specific file, please send me that file.

Do you have MusicIP and Smart Artist search enabled, and is it possible that your internet connection went down?

Thanks,
John

Re: Any problems with v0.6202?

well i watched and i turned off the MusicIP and Smart Artist look ups and it is hanging up on the first scan as its going threw all of the directories ive selected hanging on different directories and it stops in different ones depending on which ones i have selected the only thing common apears to be it stops somewhere in the 99900 to 100000 range ive seen it stop at 99982 99957 99967 and others in that ara that i have not marked so it does not seem to be anything associated with a specific fil i guess i need to try reinstall now as this is getting noplace

Re: Any problems with v0.6202?

I found a formatting problem that would make scanning stop at 99,999 files -- I've changed this to 9,999,999 in the next release.  I'm figuring that is enough? smile

Re: Any problems with v0.6202?

To work around the problem (until the next release), you'll need to limit a single scan to less than 100K files -- either by selecting fewer drives, or selecting fewer file types.
