duplicate files

the program does a good job of finding duplicates that are duplicates but how about some options to find close matches based on file name or artist and name. have lots of duplicates on my disk due to different bit rates and names of tracks spelled slightly different.

Re: duplicate files

Good idea -- at some point I will add that feature (artist/title/track/album matching with fuzzy matching).  I think that it will be callable from a separate button -- would that be OK?

Re: duplicate files

John,
For starters, how about identifying dupes with an EXACT match for those dupes not flagged by the dupe utility ( ie songs with different bit rates?) Shouldn't be difficult.

Re: duplicate files

Sounds good...just haven't added the feature yet.  Do you agree that it is OK to have this 'title check' duplicate match called from a separate button, or does it need to be integrated into the current duplicate checking?

Re: duplicate files

Should be separate, since you should know what type of dupe has been found.

PS MP3Boss doesn't do a GOOD job finding dupes. It does a SUPERB (and I think unique) job in finding dupes based on content.
