duplicate scanning

Hello,

I have the version v.608, Ive made duplicate scanning and deleted the duplicates, but not all of the duplicates were found.

What else I can do?

Re: duplicate scanning

What do you mean by "not all the duplicates were found"?

For now, MP3-Boss only finds "exact" matches -- meaning that at least a 15s segment of the song is identical.  Soon I'll add Audio-Fingerprint matching, which would match "identical" songs even if they are at different bitrates.

if you have more than 2 copies of songs that are identical, just run the duplicate scan again and it will find the remaining identical songs.

I've considered adding a "sounds-like" check based on the Artist/Album/Title information -- this could find "similar" songs.  However, that check will be a bit slow...do you you think it would still be worthwhile?

Re: duplicate scanning

Hm, the duplicates have the same bitrate, the same length, but not the same size (a few kb difference) and the idtag isnt exactly the same too.

To use artist/album/title information is a good idea, I think.

Is it better to use two scanning procedures? For example the artist/titles were checked and then the result of possible-duplicates were checked by an other scanning procedure?

have a nice weekend

Re: duplicate scanning

When you unchecked "Exact Match Only" -- the files still didn't match?

Could you send me two of the 'almost-but-not quite' matches?

Re: duplicate scanning

I think when I looked at these, they showed up in the "not exact match" list...but I need to check this out again.

I still haven't gotten around to enhancing duplicate checking with the audio fingerprint & artist/album/title matching...but definitely I'll keep this on the list of enhancements.

Re: duplicate scanning

I have other files too, which are similar duplicates, and they were not found by duplicate scanning.
I unchecked "show exact duplicates only".

I have the version 0.6202, should I send you some my duplicates?

Greetings
Harald

Re: duplicate scanning

I cleared my library and scanned a directory with duplicate files, which were not found before. Duplicate scanning had found on duplicate file on the second scan.

Maybe this info is a help for you.

Re: duplicate scanning

How many files with problems have you found now?  Have you sent them all to me?

I'm having trouble figuring out what might be wrong...
