v0.637 feedback?

Just wondered how the latest release was going.

I had one report that the initial installation had a number of error dialogs...although clicking through them fixed the problems.  Anyone else seeing this?

Re: v0.637 feedback?

After installing, when the scan started, I stopped it and selected the specific directory where I have my MP3 collection.  About 90% into the scan, the system freeked with an ADO error about something not implemented.  This kept occuring until I restarted the program and let the initial scan complete, though the only files it found were where I had tried to point to, and the scan took almost an hour to run (I have a HUGE amount of disk space).  Now I am looking at the report(s) and see a problem in that when tags have a variation (even from the online database updated tags), the albums show as 2 or more albums.  Say you have Roy Osborn Live, and the tag shows that, plus Roy Osborn with Loretta.. Live, Roy Osborn with Jim.. Live, etc.  I have my disk organized as master directory MP3s, then primary artist name, and the album title.  Most have been updated via MS Media player from online database to the 'standard' tags.  Now I am having to edit the list (over 1000 albums) to 'standardize' the tags again.  I also really would like a wheel enabled grid.  I have downloaded the wheel program listed previously, but just as a programmer pref, prefer native implementation over helper apps.  Helper apps tend to break things, in my experience.  Overall, looks interesting.  I am looking to simplify the default report, and will look into how the program works with the art that downloads from the MS Media player service into the album folders.

Any help?  wink  Thanks for the product.  Looks solid, if a bit of overkill for my current needs.  I always did hate those learning curves < g >

Do you know exactly what file caused the problem?  If you do, please send it to me so I can try to duplicate it here.  If you have an MP3BOSS.LOG file -- hopefully it caught the information.

I'm not sure I understand the problem with album variations.  Did you have to edit MS Media tags to get all the albums to say "Roy Osborn Live" -- and then were those tags saved in the mp3 files?  Or weren't the tags written to the files?  By default, MP3-Boss would read the tag information (and only base the album name on a directory structure if the embedded tag didn't have the album information), but not update the embedded tags.

Re: v0.637 feedback?

The log shows:

10/30/2007 10:38:25 AM (38305.55):        Splash1_Form_Load: (13) - Type mismatch
10/30/2007 10:42:12 AM (38532.97):        Get_Files_Click (3420) Object invalid or no longer set. -
10/30/2007 10:42:18 AM (38538.81):        Get_Files_Click (3420) Object invalid or no longer set. -
10/30/2007 10:46:26 AM (38786.86):        Splash1_Form_Load: (13) - Type mismatch
10/30/2007 10:47:01 AM (38821.92):        Get_Files_Click (3420) Object invalid or no longer set. -
10/30/2007 10:48:07 AM (38887):           Splash1_Form_Load: (13) - Type mismatch
10/30/2007 12:35:15 PM (45315.92):        Splash1_Form_Load: (13) - Type mismatch
10/30/2007 1:17:03 PM (47823.3):          Splash1_Form_Load: (13) - Type mismatch
10/30/2007 1:50:59 PM (49859.44):         Splash1_Form_Load: (13) - Type mismatch
10/31/2007 2:36:52 PM (52612.49):         Splash1_Form_Load: (13) - Type mismatch

Not sure what file was being processed.  Yes, manually editing the tags (through anything - windows dir, MP3Boss list in edit mode, Media Player) and getting them to all say the same name reduces the report to a single album listing.

Re: v0.637 feedback?

Is anyone else seeing either of these messages in the log:
Splash1_Form_Load: (13) - Type mismatch
Get_Files_Click (3420) Object invalid or no longer set. -

...any idea what might have caused the problem?  Were you clicking on a specific menu while scanning?
