Re: virus on instll

It sounds like "Action performed: Allow access" means that the program is letting you run MP3-Boss?

The StartAccess_97.exe program is required when you run MP3-Boss under VISTA -- otherwise the VISTA user access controls won't let the program run.

StartAccess_97.exe actually isn't required under other operating systems, but then you need to pass the correct command line to link Access97.exe with MPEG.MDE.

Exactly what happens when you try to run MP3-Boss now?

Re: virus on instll

You can try to create a direct link to start MP3-Boss -- here is the command line that you need (note that you might need to modify some of the directories, depending on where you installed Mp3-Boss).

"C:\Program Files\Access 97 Runtime\Msaccess.exe" /excl  /runtime  /profile
"MP3 Boss"  /wrkgrp "C:\Program Files\MP3Boss\System.mdw" "C:\Program
Files\MP3Boss\mpeg.mde"

Normally, the startup directory for mp3-boss is:
c:\program files\mp3boss\

Re: virus on instll

Is there any chance that your computer is infected with something?  I see that MP3-Boss has actually been run through the AVIRA scanner by one of the download sites ... and the StartAccess_97.exe is listed as clean.

Re: virus on instll

You might submit the file to:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/en

I found this information here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ … 42748.html

It suggests that you are simply able to tell AVIRA to exclude the problem file from from the scan (once you are sure it is clean).

Re: virus on instll

I scanned my copy here ... only Avira says that there is a problem (20 out of 21 say that it is clean).

This appears to be a false positive -- I'll notify AVIRA about the problem.

Re: virus on instll

Thanks.

I submitted the file to AVIRA to let them know that it was a false positive ... they will let me know when they finish their testing.
