Migration/Development

John,

How is the migration coming along?  Is v0.683 still the most current version?  If the migration is on hold, what are the upgrades or enhancements that are in development?

    Thanks,

Re: Migration/Development

v0.683 is still the most current version.

New version development was a problem -- while I was able to start the migration (and new Access included some nice features), it was never solid enough.  I'm not sure how much of the problem was due to underlying libraries and how much due to new version of Access itself.  Microsoft has been moving away from developer support for Access, so I think it may be that the environment is no longer stable enough for large programs.

I started looking at alternatives (e.g., move to SQL or Java based system) -- but haven't gotten any feedback from customers.

I haven't heard anything significant about Office 2013 -- it looks like Microsoft really wants you to be running a Sharepoint server now.

I still don't know what comes next - not enough user feedback to let me know what should be done.
Easiest is to stay with Access, but I think I need to create something that provides mobile access to the database ... which probably means JAVA would be more suitable.
