File move / rename

I am in the process of moving / renaming files.  When I use the "Make File List" button I get an "Error <#0> occured during AutoMove/Auto Rename."

Everything seems ok.  Should I be worried about this?

I have screen shots of this and the following summary dialogue if this helps.

Also I have 50,000 files, do you think it is safe to do the whole lot at onece?  I am currently doing it 1 letter at a time.

As I have about 10,000 artists I have a directory structure of ...\A-Z\Artist\Album\...

So I end up with thngs like: ...\E\Elton John\Goodbye Yellow Brick Road\...

Could this be automated?

Re: File move / rename

I also keep getting a "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: File Not Found ..."

Any ideas why?

Re: File move / rename

What version of the software are you using?

The v0.57 release, or the beta version?

It sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to automate the first-letter move ... but I'll have to think about what it would entail.

Re: File move / rename

I am on V0.603 (which I believe to be the latest).

Interestingly last night when scanning i was getting the "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error:." error.  I have just scanned the file system and will try again.

The error in a previous psot occured during the move and I think is ralated to files with accented characters.  I tracked the error down to 2 files.  The interesting thing is that it dos not fail when I use just 1 offending file, the offending file has to be mixed in with some others.  I have not had time to investigate that either.

Let me know your thougths.

Re: File move / rename

When I said "I have just scanned the file system and will try again." what I mean is that I have done a file system check.

Re: File move / rename

I did a file system check last night and now the scanner seems to work fine again, it is just the file rename and move tall that is playing up.

I know what file number it failes on (usually reported as sotmhing like 805 of 2134).

How can I identify which file is 805?  Also it is in phase 6 that it goes wrong if that is any help.

Re: File move / rename

There is a movelist table -- I think #805 should be the file in row 805.  If you don't have Access (to view the table directly), please ZIP and send me a copy of your MPEG.MDE file.  Definitely I'll want to take a look at the file.

Is it possible that what is happening is that your hard drive is failing...and thus MP3-Boss simply can't access the file?  Things being fixed with a file-system check indicates that something is or was wrong with your drive/files.

Re: File move / rename

I have sent e-mails.  The good news is that I can cause the move / rename to fail with just 18 files (probably less).  But it seems that more than 1 files is needed to cause the failure.
