Scan selected directories doesn't work

I've got a problem, that I can't solve.
I can't start using MP3-boss without it's trying to scann all the directories on on the drives of my PC. I've got many mounted disks and only three directories containing music. Stopping the scan and asking for "scan selected directories" doesnt' help - it starts anew to scan every stupid folder.

What should I do or what have I missed?

Re: Scan selected directories doesn't work

As long as you click "Scan selected directories", MP3-Boss will only scan the checked directories AND the subdirectories of those directories.  So -- if you have C:\ as one of the directories to scan -- mp3-boss will scan ALL of drive C:.

Is that the problem?

Also -- make sure you haven't selected anything like "\" -- or maybe even a blank.

Re: Scan selected directories doesn't work

the problem is that with three directories in the list and "scan selected" button the program still tries to go over all the disks (starting from Document directories I didn't ask for. The scan wasn't finished even once (it is too large), so when I start the program, it is started as full-range scan automatically.

Re: Scan selected directories doesn't work

Could you send me a screen capture of the scanning page?

Thanks,

Re: Scan selected directories doesn't work

Has anybody else seen this error?  I rarely scan all drives (except after an initial installation), so at least here "scan selected" always works.

Re: Scan selected directories doesn't work

may be I wasn't clear enough. I've never finished the scan of initial installation, (cause it tried to scan all the mounted disks) and just couldn't move the program from this idea.

Re: Scan selected directories doesn't work

When MP3-Boss is first installed, it assumes you'll want to scan everything (since usually you won't know ALL the directories that might have songs).  But...you can just click "Cancel" on that initial "Scan ALL drives" dialog, and then "Scan selected directories" on the Scanning page.  Didn't you ever get this option?  For testing, I do this pretty frequently...so it seems to work here (but I can see where it is confusing if you don't know want to scan everything!).

Since you don't have anything in your database yet...you can just uninstall & reinstall MP3-Boss (if asked, overwrite database) and you'll get another 60days.

Re: Scan selected directories doesn't work

well, this was exactly the problem. I was clicking cancel and "scan selected" and watching it going for all the world.
I'll try another go (reinstallation).
Thanks a lot

Re: Scan selected directories doesn't work

thanks, reinstallation did help.
Obviously the problem was that I agreed for the initial scan.
