In theory you should only need the v0.591 update release.  However, if you want to do a full installation, you can use the v0.591 full version release.  Don't forget to backup what you have!  In particular, it is possible that a final release might require that you revert back to v0.582 data (or earlier) because of database update issues.

Re: v0.591 Beta released -- Dec. 04, 2004

Big John.

I think you have it.  The scanning options all work, and the rest of the program looks good.  There are two minor problems.

1.  The Burner drive will only scan a new disk (no added files).

2.  When scanning a new disk, it takes a long time to scan disk into database.  I had a disk with 250 files and it took probably 3-4 minutes to scan.

Other than that, it looks good.  Congradulations.

Sounds great -- glad that things are working better.

>The Burner drive will only scan a new disk (no added files).
What happens when you add files?  Does it ignore the new files?  Does it treat the CD as a new disk?

>it takes a long time to scan disk into database
The maximum scan time for a new CD/DVD should occur at 250 files...because I calculate the DiskID based on 250 files.  You are only seeing this long time for CD/DVD disks, right?  Because CD/DVD access is pretty slow...I'm not sure there is much else I can do, but I'll make sure that I'm not re-calculating things that I don't have to re-calculate.

Re: v0.591 Beta released -- Dec. 04, 2004

The program just says that there are no new files to scan.  This again, only occurs on the burner drive.  I thought it might be a finalization issue, but that did not help.

Also I was scanning on an older machine I have here, and that may have had something to do with the scan time.

Re: v0.591 Beta released -- Dec. 04, 2004

I installed the Beta on my "main computer", and the following happened.

The program will scan new disk, and re-scan (added files) on the same drive.  It however will not scan a new disk on onw drive, and then do a re-scan on another.  It will treat the re-scan as a new disk.

The slow scan speed I mentioned previously is gone.  It must have been the older computer.

Re: v0.591 Beta released -- Dec. 04, 2004

I look into whether re-scanning an unfinalized disk won't work unless done on the same drive.

I'm very surprised that your burner drive doesn't find the new files.  Anything unusual about the number of files or directories?  Would the disk have worked OK in v0.57?

Re: v0.591 Beta released -- Dec. 04, 2004

The burner will find the new files.  What I can't do is a new scan on Drive D, add files, and then do a re-scan on Drive E.  The re-scan will be treated as a new disk, eventho I tell it to disregard the serial number.  If I do both a new scan and a re-scan (same disk) on the same drive, it works OK>
