Perc cleaning machine

AUGSBURG, GERMANY -- Boewe Textile Cleaning GmbH said its new P20 perchloroethylene cleaning machines offer the cleaning performance of a 55-lb. machine in a 45-lb. size.

Better cleaning effects are obtained with the large cage diameter, dynamic cage perforation and a high air-low rate for faster drying and shorter cycles.

With optimized speed programs, cycle times of 25 minutes with a two-bath process and a 30-lb. load are possible. Using the optional Slimsorba adsorption unit extends cycles as little as five to six minutes.

An integrated electronic balancing system levels out unbalanced loads during extraction, even with small loads

Changes in the machine design and operating panel make the P20s more user friendly. Sensor controlled solvent temperature along with programmable variable speed drive gives the flexibility to clean a wide range of fabric types.

The P20s are available in slimline or side-by-side versions.

Böwe's Direct Connect is integrated in the new P20s for maintenance by telephone with the Böwe on-line service. The on-line machine management lets customers manage their machines by PC.

Computer-assisted sorting system

NORRISTOWN, PA -- Positek RFID, working with Gemplus Tag, has patented and developed AutoSort, a stand-alone computer assisted sorting system that can be used to assemble both hanging and folded garments, which, when interfaced with an existing point of sale or route accounting system, can reduce drycleaning assembly by up to 30 percent.

For drycleaning, Positek RFID has designed and patented re-usable plastic tags into which Gemplus RFID tags have been injected to withstand water, extreme temperatures and chemicals used in the drycleaning and laundry processes. The tags are attached with a tagging machine manufactured exclusively for Positek RFID.

Gemplus RFID technology (tags and reading stations) has previously been implemented in industrial laundry environments. The Gemplus garment tags contain and electronic chip that allows information to be transmitted "through the air" to and from the tags using dedicated reading devices connected to PCs and linked to a host database. Unlike bar codes, line of sight is not needed to identify and read the information on the tag which makes garment identification and sorting faster and increasing customer service and labor efficiency.

Brochure explains marking system

VAN NUYS, CA -- Bennett Distribution Inc. has a new brochure that explains its Polymark system.

According to the company, updating from manual hand-tagging with tags and staples to the automatic Polymark system can double or triple the production of taggers who can work with less effort while bringing better control to the production floor. Both tagging and sorting are simplified with many plants sorting directly from the shirt unit with no loss in pressing production. Mix-ups are reduced since it is impossible to transpose a number with the Polymark 15 Order Lot System.

The Polymark System for laundry identification uses a soft cloth tag that is automatically applied to the article with controlled adhesions. The machine is plugged into a standard wall outlet; no compressor is necessary.
