Kreussler enters North American market

Kreussler  has intensified activities in the U.S. and Canadian markets with the formation of its own sales, marketing, distribution and service company based in Tampa, FL. The newly established Kreussler Inc. is responsible for marketing, sales, distribution and technical service and support for Kreussler products for drycleaning and laundry companies in North America.
A sales and marketing meeting was held in October with all of the U.S. employees and Dr. D. Travers, who is the managing partner of Kreussler, GmbH, and Kaspar Hasenclever, textile chemist and managing director of Kreussler, GmbH of Wiesbaden, Germany, attending.
John Phillips,  executive vice president for Kreussler Inc., has 35 years of industry experience in over 14 countries. Several years ago he was employed by Kreussler as technical manager for Kreussler U.K. and Ireland.
Company Controller Al Iglesias has a background in accounting. He comes from New York where he worked with Dean Witter, King Features Syndicate, a division of the Hearst Corporation and MacMillan Publishing.
Ginnie Drost,  the office manager, comes with a wealth of experience in customer service, bookkeeping, supervisory skills and office management. She was employed with Jumbo Sports for 16 years, and has gained industry knowledge at Seitz, Inc. Ginnie is also a Notary Public.
Joyce Phillips, marketing manager, is known to many in the drycleaning industry for her work with the International Drycleaners Congress (IDC).
John Miller,  warehouse manager, has experience in inventory control and product shipment from his work with transport companies.
Keith VanDusen, technical sales representative, lives in New York.  He grew up in the textile care industry in the family business and spent 13 years as a distributor sales representative.
Bruce Wiener,  technical sales representative, is a native of New Jersey.   He grew up in the family drycleaning business.
Patrick Coyle,  technical sales representative, spent 10 years in the Army, six of them in Germany, and speaks fluent German.  After leaving the military, he worked for GTE as a technical instructor, before opening his own drycleaning plant, which he ran for nine years in South Carolina, where he still resides.
Louis Romero,  technical sales representative, was an instructor in electronics prior to moving from New Jersey to Miami, where he ran his own drycleaning plant for 25 years. He speaks fluent Spanish.

Cleaners Hanger makes changes

CHC Industries Inc., including both divisions — Cleaners Hanger Company and CHC Wire — has announced structural changes and investments to expand its position in the global market for wire hangers and industrial wire. The restructuring includes consolidation of some operations and investments in expanding capabilities. CHC anticipates that its operations in Cleveland, OH, will be consolidated into its new Valley City, OH, facility by June 2002. The company has committed money to expand that facility to accommodate the consolidation.
Expansion plans were also announced for the Brenham, TX, and Baltimore, MD, facilities. The Union City, CA, facility will be closed with its production to be absorbed into existing facilities.
CHC will continue to operate facilities in Jacksonville, FL, and Gadsden, AL. Staff additions have been made at CHC's corporate office in Palm Harbor, FL.

Böwe starts Dallas company

Böwe Textile Cleaning GmbH of Augsburg, Germany, manufacturer of the German-made Böwe Permac drycleaning machines and other products, has opened a new company in Dallas, TX.
The new company, Böwe Textile Cleaning USA Inc., has purchased the assets of Böwe Permac Inc. which has supported the Böwe Permac products for many years in the U.S. market.
Heading the new company is John Bogert who has been active in the drycleaning industry for more than 20 years. Böwe Textile Cleaning USA Inc. has assembled a team that represents more than 100 years of experience in the drycleaning industry. The new company will sell, distribute, and support the made in Germany Böwe Permac products in the North American market.
The new company will supply spare parts and technical support for all equipment that was purchased in the past. In addition to the Böwe Permac  equipment, the new company will sell and support the German-made Veit brand of professional European finishing equipment and the German-made Hawo poly bagger/packing machines.

Swan appoints two
Two appointments have been announced by Swan Cleaners which owns and operates 50 drycleaning stores and seven coin laundries in the Columbus, OH, area. Andra Gillum has been named vice president of Swan Cleaners. The step-daughter of Swan President Paul Gelpi, she is the fourth generation of the Gelpi family to work in the family business. The company was founded in 1937 by Eleanor and Andre Gelpi. She began her career as a teenager working the front counter in various

Swan stores. After graduating from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH in 1991, she resumed her career at Swan on a full-time basis as director of corporate communications. In her new position, she will oversee all associated and public relations and communications. Anthony Gelpi, another fourth-generation family member in business has been appointed district manager. He is the son of the company’s president. In his new position, he will be responsible for coordinating the operations of several Swan Cleaners stores.

Air world expands production

Air World Inc., makers of press pads and covers, is moving its production facility to new space on Dec. 1.
Also located in Paterson, NJ, the new facility will provide more than three times the space as the current one. Air World's John Rizzuto said the increased space is needed to handle continuing business growth and to further streamline production operations.

AmeriCleaners adds East Coast associates

AmeriCleaners.com on-line drycleaning service has announced new associates on the East Coast.
Iris Cleaners  will provide service in New York. The company was founded in 1978 by Jose and Maria Landazabal.
Tenth Street Laundromat, owned by Lisa Budnick and James Benson, will provide service in Philadelphia.
Sol Cleaners,  operated by Adelfa Arriaga and her son, Luis Torres, has joined the network as the Miami provider.
Pilgrim Park Laundry and Cleaners, owned by Ed Kennedy for 25 years, will serve Rhode Island.
AmeriCleaners.com has expanded to include convenience delivery services such as valet and corporate concierge services.

advice on how to choose a coin laundry location and examine all the factors for success.  A seminar on saving utility costs was conducted by Sara Kuhl of the Coin Laundry Association. All attendees received a T-shirt and water valve and each participated in a drawing for an 18-pound IPSO washer-extractor which was won by Clean City Laundromat & Cleaner, operator of five coin laundries in the New York City area. Another drawing, for an ADC dryer, was won by Reynaldo Peña of Tompkin Laundromat.
