PDCA annouces seminars, Expo 2002 dates
The Pennsylvania and Delaware Cleaners
Association announced plans for two upcoming seminars, as well
as the dates and location for its Expo 2002.
PDCA’s seminars, coming up in
January and February, will be specifically designed to help
cleaners boost their profits and lower their costs.
Don Desrosiers, National Clothesline
columnist, will lead a session on boosting profits through
better management of shirt laundering on January 30 from 7 to 9:
30 p.m. It will be at the Radisson Hotel in Valley Forge, PA,
next to the Valley Forge Convention Center. The free seminar is
sponsored by PDCA and the Penn-Del Cleaners Association.
On February 9 there will be an all-day
maintenance clinic at the Harrisburg Hilton Hotel. Among the
topics to be discussed are lubrication to prevent machinery
damage, boiler upkeep, and other equipment care. In addition,
there will be an explanation of new and anticipated OSHA rules.
PDCA also announced that the location for
its Expo 2002 will be the Atlantic City Convention Center in
Atlantic City, NJ, the same venue that was used for the
association’s Expo 2000.
PDCA hopes to match the success of its
show two years ago, which featured over 325 booths and saw more
than 2,800 attendees who represented over 1,600 drycleaning
plants.
The dates for the event will be Saturday
and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22.
For updated information on upcoming PDCA
events, check the association’s web site at www.pdclean.org or call (215) 830-8495.
Seminars for managers coming in January
Two educational sessions devoted to
helping managers improve their supervising skills will be
offered in Pennsylvania during January.
The seminars will be conducted by National
Seminars Group, a division of Rockhurst University Continuing
Education Center, Inc., that provides thousands of seminars and
conferences in the U.S. and Canada.
On Wednesday, January 9, “Recruiting
and Interview Skills” will be presented at the Four
Points Sheraton at 3400 Airport Road in Allentown, PA. Cost is
$195 per person.
Attendees will learn how to determine the
truth about a job candidate’s ability, experience and
attitude, as well as how to use the Internet to recruit good
employees. Other things the seminar will cover include: how to
avoid costly mistakes in hiring; what you can and cannot ask
during an interview; and how to quickly screen out candidates
who shouldn’t be hired.
Another seminar, scheduled for January 11
at the Four Points Sheraton on 800 East Park Drive in
Harrisburg, PA, will focus specifically on “How to Handle
Difficult People.” It also costs $139 per person.
In addition to learning how to identify
and handle the ten most common types of difficult people,
attendees will learn how to minimize, and even eliminate, the
negative effects of difficult behavior.
Registration for both programs will begin
at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. The seminars will run
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a break for lunch.
