IDC sets tour plans for fall convention
Though detailed plans for the International
Drycleaners Congress’s Convention 2002 from Aug. 27-31 in London, England, are
still being worked on, the association recently announced the
itineraries for its pre- and post-convention tours to England
and France.
IDC will be hosting its pre-convention
tour of Southern England from Aug. 20-26. After assembling
participating travelers together on Tuesday, Aug. 20 in London,
a luxury motorcoach will begin its journey.
The first day will be spent touring the
royal town of Windsor at a visit to its State Apartments and
Windsor Castle before heading to stay at the Lainston House in
Winchester for the evening.
Throughout the rest of the week-long tour,
attendees will have an opportunity to visit several southern
areaas in England, including Bath, Cotswolds and Oxford.
Some of the sites on the itinerary include
the ancient monuments that make up Stonehenge, the original
Roman Baths, Sudeley Castle, Oxford College, and the
birthplaces of Sir Winston Churchill and William Shakespeare.
The total cost for the trip is $3,290 per
person based on a fee for those who share a double/twin room.
There is an additional cost of $1,270 for single occupancy.
The cost includes all six nights of hotel
accommodations in deluxe hotels, six full breakfasts, three
dinners, one traditional afternoon tea, admissions to all
gardens, castles and other sightseeing as shown in the
itinerary, and transportation via a luxury touring coach.
Barge tour
Following the IDC convention, a
post-convention tour of France will commence from Aug. 31 to
Sept. 6.
Initially, attendees will take a train
trip from London to Paris before embarking on an IDC-chartered
hotel barge known as Libellule that carries only 20 passengers.
From Dijon, the six-night cruise will
travel the Saône River through southern Burgundy and the
eastern Loire, making various sightseeing stops including
visits to a costume museum, market towns, medieval
fortifications and vineyards.
Currently, the 20 spots on the river barge
have already been reserved, but IDC is still taking calls from
those who wish to be placed on a waiting list for any
cancellations.
The cost for the post-convention tour is
approximately $3,300 per person, based on sharing a double
cabin on the lower deck of the Libellule.
Travel arrangements for the pre- and
post-convention tours should be made through Yamato Travel
Bureau by calling (800) 334-4982. For more information on
