SDA’s Big Show 2002 rolls into San Antonio
The Southwest Drycleaners Association announced its education line-up for its Big Show 2002, scheduled for April 13 and 14 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX.
Prior to the show, SDA will host an Executive Committee meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, and an IFI Board of Director’s dinner at 6 p.m. Those eager to relax a little before the show will be able to join a golf tournament at noon at the Canyon Springs Golf Club.
On Friday, SDA will hold several Board of Directors’ meetings throughout the day before IFI President Lang Houston hosts a General Membership and Awards meeting from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
In the afternoon, attendees can register for a historic tour of San Antonio that runs from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and includes a bus trip, boat ride and a walking tour of the Alamo. Cost is $50 per person.
Later that evening, a welcome reception will be held at 6:30 p.m.
The educational programs will begin on Saturday morning with
“Understanding Personality Differences in Your Cleaning Business” from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The seminar will be presented by Jan Hargrave, who demonstrated at SDA’s last show the power of non-verbal communication.
Following the seminar, the exhibit hall will open until 5:30 p.m. It will also be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
On Saturday evening, SDA will present a Convention Social from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by four hours of dinner, dancing and entertainment at “Six Flags Over Texas.”
Popular guest speaker Chris Allsbrooks will appear at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning to offer an hour-long discussion on “Managing Difficult Customers.” Afterward, IFI CEO Bill Fisher will offer his view on the state of the drycleaning industry at 9:15 a.m.
This year’s convention hotel is the St. Anthony, located at 300 East Travis St. in San Antonio. A special discount rate of $129 for single/double occupancy has been reserved for those who call the hotel at (210) 227-4392 and affiliate themselves with Big Show 2002.
The hotel is also offering rates of $139 per night for triple occupancy and $149 for quad. Reservations must be made by March 11.
Full registration for SDA’s convention will be offered in a package that costs $115 per person and will include admittance to the exhibit hall and all of the educational seminars, as well as the welcome reception, the Six Flags Over Texas dinner, and the General Membership and Awards meeting.
Members who register prior to March 15 will receive a discount price of $89 per person for the full registration package.
Plant owners and employees may also purchase a basic registration package for $10 each, which includes unlimited entrance to the exhibit hall, the State of the Industry seminar, and the membership meeting. Allied Trades who are not exhibiting can purchase the same package for $100 each.
