Eisen receives patent for dryer that cleans without using solvent
The U.S. Patent office granted Daniel Eisen a patent on a new dryer able to clean clothes without solvent (Patent #5940988.)
Eisen said the dryer uses no solvent and is capable of successfully cleaning 75 percent of the work that comes into a drycleaning store. The dryer has been manufactured by Hydra Worldwide; prototype has been installed and tested in New Jersey. A model will be ready for testing in Florida in the near future.
Eisen said the technology of using no solvents for cleaning can be used even in home dryers or existing dryers in cleaning plants. Used in conjunction with a drycleaning machine, this technology can speed production, avoid purchasing a second cleaning machine and save on hazardous waste and electricity, he noted.
The technology uses no perfumes or other additives to mask odors. Use of proper chemicals not only removes odors but purifies the garment. The spotting techniques developed remove soil and staining without leaving rings.
Eisen said the following tests have been successful thus far:
• Removing smoke odor as well as an ozone machine.
• Cleaning many unserviceable garments that cannot be drycleaned.
• Successful stain removal without leaving rings.
• Removing wrinkling on garments that have been wetcleaned.
For those interested in using this technology, Eisen said the procedures and methods can be taught to anyone who has:
• The skills of general spotting.
• A working dryer that can be adapted to this technology.
• An air compressor.
• Willingness to spend time reading up material pertinent to use of the technology.
• Willingness to spend time on the phone discussing use of the technology.
