IFI seminars are coming to the Midwest
Outreach seminars from the International Fabricare Institute will be finding their way into the Midwestern United States in the next few months, including three on stain removal and two on customer service and problem garments.
On Saturday, June 22, IFI will present a stain removal seminar in Chicago, IL. The program will cover stain removal tools, agents and procedures, with emphasis on the pH scale, bleaches and mineral oil barriers. Techniques used to remove water marks and sizing rings will also be discussed.
Similar seminars are also planned to take place on Saturday, June 29 in Minneapolis, MN, and on Saturday, August 24 in Flint, MI.
On August 17, IFI will present a Customer Service/Problem Garments seminar in Milwaukee, WI.
In addition to looking at ways to handle and care for problem garments in order to avoid making costly mistakes, the class will focus on how a customer service representative should handle their job. Some factors that will be outlined include: customer expectations; talking to customers; identifying potential cleaning problems; and handling difficult situations.
A second seminar is planned in Indianapolis, IN, on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the EJ Thomas Company, located at 1445 Brookville Way, Suite Q.

Midwest 2002 show moves back one week
The executive committee of the Illinois State Fabricare Association recently announced that the show date for the associations’ Midwest 2002 trade show will be moved back a week.
Originally, the show was scheduled for July 20 and 21; now it will run on July 27 and 28 at the Odeum Sports and Exposition Center in Villa Park, IL.
The change was made to eliminate a conflict with events scheduled for the previous weekend.
Reservations can be made at this year’s host hotel, the Holiday Inn in Elmhurst, located at 624 North York Rd., less than four minutes from the convention center.
Room rates of $89 plus tax per night have been secured for double occupancy rooms. To make reservations, call (630) 279-7307 and mention Midwest 2002.
