Haubenstock takes over as TCATA president
PRESIDENTS
Marty Haubenstock, president of R.V. Davies, Inc. of Moonachie, NJ, assumed the office of president of the Textile Care Allied Trades Association  at the association’s annual conference in late April.  He begins a two-year term as president.
Haubenstock has been an active member of TCATA for many years, having served on the board since 1997. He was general chair of the 1997 conference in Aspen and chaired the Business Program Committee for both the 1989 and 1996 conferences. Haubenstock was awarded the Young Timers Club L. Frank Wright Man of the Year Award in 1997.
“As I pass the president’s gavel to Marty Haubenstock, I have no doubt that the association will be in very capable hands,” noted outgoing president Lee White.
“Marty’s experience in the textile care industry, combined with his contributions to TCATA, make him an excellent choice to lead in these challenging times,” White went on to say.
Also elected at the conference were Jens Voldbaek, Jensen USA, as vice president of the Machinery Manufacturers Group; Ava Campagna, Qualitex Co., as vice president of the Supply Manufacturers Group, and Alex Atwater, A-1 Products, as vice president of the Distributors Group. Bill Odorizzi, F. H. Bonn & Company assumed the office of secretary-treasurer.
TCATA also has announced  its 2002 scholarship recipients. Jessica Lendon received the Max Zimmerman education scholarship while Jesse Simpson received the Dean Allen education scholarship. Both will receive $1,000 for each of the four years of college.
Lendon, whose father works for Reed Manufacturing in Franklin, TN, is enrolled in Berry College in Georgia.
Simpson, whose father works for NIE Insurance in St. Louis, MO, plans to attend the University of Missouri.



Sutton to rep for A. Meyers

Meyers & Sons Corp. has appointed George E. Sutton as sales representative for the southeastern United States.
Sutton brings more than 20 years experience to his territory, which stretches from Virginia through Florida and west to Arkansas where he has established relationships with apparel manufacturers and drycleaning distributors. He will market the line of safety pins, straight pins, T-pins, skirt clips and other product offered by A. Meyers & Sons for the apparel, drycleaning and laundry industries. These products complement other lines that Sutton represents, including Stry-Lenkoff, keystone paper Box and Pro-Tech Mats Industry.

Rechnitz to serve trade group
The Institute of Management Consultants has appointed Deborah Rechnitz, managing director of Methods for Management Inc., as its treasurer and extended her term as a board member.
She also serves as a trustee to the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes and is involved in measuring the United States certification standards against those of the other countries.
Rechnitz and other members of the MFM consulting staff participate in continuous training sponsored by IMC-USA to improve their skills and effectiveness and to better serve their clients within the drycleaning industry.

Cocivera joins TRSA staff
Roger Cocivera has joined the staff of the Textile Rental Services Association as director of industry affairs. He will be responsible for plant operations, membership and strategic management of the association.
Cocivera has chaired several TRSA committees and task forces and has written technical papers for the industry. He has also spoken at textile rental industry workshops and seminars and was a key organizer and benefactor of the industry’s Production Management Institute.
Last year he received TRSA’s highest honor, the Textile Rental Member Achievement Award.

Swan opens new store

Swan Cleaners held a grand opening for its newest store in the Powell Plaza Shopping Center. The new store features drive-though service, one-hour drycleaning and “while-you-wait” pressing in addition to all the other services Swan Cleaners has provided to customers in the Columbus, OH, area for over 65 years.
“We are excited about the opening our new Powell store,” said Paul Gelpi, president of Swan cleaners. “It allows us to offer more convenience and a higher level of service to residents of the Powell area.”
Swan plans more store openings for later this summer.
