Fun-in-the-sun outings head NCA’s
summer schedule
A golf tournament and a day at the
baseball park are two of the more fun-filled events planned
this summer by the Neighbor-hood Cleaners Association, which
also plans to host several educational programs in the coming
months as well.
NCA’s New York City/Long Island
Chapter will present its 4th Annual Night at Shea Stadium on
Friday, Aug. 2 when the New York Mets host the defending
champions, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Seating for the event is limited, so
calling Joe Hallak at (201) 343-7333 or Ed Roth at (718)
969-0207 as soon as possible for tickets is recommended.
Later in the month, NCA has planned its
first-ever golf tournament to benefit CLEANPAC, the
association’s Political Action Fund.
The tournament will take place on
Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. at the Bethpage State Park Blue
Course in Bethpage Long Island, the same course that will host
the U.S. Open in June.
Currently, NCA is giving Allied
Tradespeople a chance to sponsor a hole for $500 or donate a
prize to the event. Each sponsor may send one player free of
charge to the tournament. Additional players must pay $100 per
person in order to participate.
The cost includes green fees, cart, dinner
and awards. Non-players are also welcome to attend the awards
dinner at a cost of $40 each.
Those interested in participating in the
event should contact the NCA office at (212) 967-3002, ext.
225.
NCA will also feature several educational
seminars this summer, including an “Equipment
Maintenance” session at the New York School of
Drycleaning on Sunday, June 9. The class will run from 8:30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and cost members $150 each. Non-members pay
$195 each.
On Tuesday, June 18, a “Pricing For
Profit” seminar will take place from 9 to 10 p.m. at the
Hilton Garden Inn at 560 Main Ave. off of Route 7 in Norwalk,
CT. Attendance is free for all members; non-members must pay
$75 each.
NCA Executive Director Nora Nealis will
present “Counter Training” on Thursday, June 20,
from 8 to 10 p.m. The program will be at the Marriott Hotel on
1 Orms St. in Providence, RI, and is free to all NCA members.
On June 23, Alan Spielvogel will teach
“Technical Training for the Counter” from 8:30 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. at the NY School of Drycleaning located at 252 W.
29th St. Cost is $150 for members and $225 for non-members.

events, visit the association’s web site at
