Fisher, Oehlke featured at SEFA’s
2002 Show Aug. 3-4
A wide array of speakers, including IFI
CEO Bill Fisher and long-time drycleaning expert Norm Oehlke,
will make up a diverse educational program for the South
Eastern Fabricare Association’s 2002 Southern Drycleaners Show.
The event, which will take place from Aug.
3-4, will be hosted at the Savannah International Trade &
Convention Center located at One International Dr. in Savannah,
GA.
Following welcoming remarks by IFI
President Lang Houston at 8 a.m. on Saturday night, Fisher will
present a discussion on “Can We Survive? YES WE
CAN!” The hour-long program will focus on where the
industry has been, where it’s going in the future, and
where it is right now.
A second Saturday seminar by
industry consultant Norm Oehlke will follow from 9 to 10 a.m.
on “The Front Counter.” Oehlke has spent his
lifetime in the industry, including a stint as a fabric analyst
and consumer relations coordinator at IFI that last several
decades. He also is the author of many articles, bulletins and
brochures pertaining to the cleaning industry.
He will ask attendees the question:
“Are your personnel responding to the customers’
needs?” as he examines the physical and verbal actions of
counter people, as well as what customers have come to expect
from them beside a warm body to receive and distribute their
orders.
Also throughout the day, SEFA will present
various spotting seminars in the exhibit hall from 11 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. and 4 to 5:30 p.m.
The exhibit hall will be open from 10 a.m.
to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Early Sunday morning, “How to Deal
with Difficult Employees” will be presented by Dr. Sandy
Seay, Jr., president of Seay Management Consultants, at 8 a.m.
Dr. Seay has earned a bachelor’s degree from Virginia
Tech, a master’s degree from Rollins College and a Ph.D.
in Humanities from Warnborough University in the United
Kingdom.
The hour-long session will cover ways to
motivate employees to respond favorably to management, and what
to do with trouble employees who do not respond.
Rex Carrigan, owner of Carrigan
Consulting, will discuss “Home Delivery and Route
Services” from 9 to 10 a.m. on the same day. He will help
attendees learn how to sell to new customers and build value
with existing customers by driving and managing delivery routes
properly.
Carrigan has over 40 years of sales
experience, including 11 with the Grand Old Opry and 25 in the
medical supply industry. He has 14 years experience in the
