NCA schedules educational offerings for
coming months
The Neighborhood
Cleaners Association will
be offering several educational opportunities in the coming
months, scattered throughout New York, Connecticut,
Massachusetts and New Jersey.
Starting in August, NCA’s New York
School of Drycleaning will host an abundance of classes,
including a two-day session on “Suede and Leather
Cleaning” that will run begin on Tuesday, Aug. 6 and will
conclude on Thursday, Aug. 8.
The class will run from 7 to 11 p.m. on
both evenings. Tuition is $150 for each NCA member. The school
is located at 252 W. 29th St. in New York, NY.
NCA’s School of Drycleaning will
also be presenting a New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation Certification course that will begin on Aug. 17.
Students will meet from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and
Sunday. The cost is $509 for members and $975 for non-members.
On September 9, NCA will offer
“Principles and Practices of Drycleaning” over a
ten-week period at the New York school. The class will meet on
Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 11 p.m. and will cover topics
such as machine operation, stain identification, fabrics and
dyes. Tuition is $870.
A four-week course on “Principles
and Practices of Pressing” is scheduled to start on Sept.
10 and run Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 8 to 11 p.m. at
the same location. The class, which costs $380, will teach the
proper finishing of a garment and the different garment lays
and will teach cleaners how to examine a line of finished work.
Also on Sept. 10, NCA will offer a
“Diversification” seminar at 7:30 p.m. at the
Hilton Garden Inn located at 560 Main Ave. in Norwalk, CT.
NCA will be offering a “Pricing For
Profit” seminar at the Ramada Inn at 375 E. Passaic St.
in Rochelle Park, NJ. It will also start at 7:30 p.m.
The Crown Plaza Hotel at 66 Hale Ave. in
White Plains, NY, will be the site for a “Pricing For
Profit” seminar that will begin promptly at 7 p.m. on
Sept. 18.
On Sept. 19, NCA will be offering two
seminars. The first will cover “Pricing For Profit”
and will begin at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 215 Sunnyside
Blvd. in Plainview, NY. The other seminar will be on
“Diversification” and will start at 7 p.m. at
Finian’s Restaurant, located at 910 Washington Ave. in
Dedham, MA.

IPSO of NY schedules Open House
An Open House featuring displays and
specially discounted prices on washer-extractors from IPSO USA
and dryers from American Dryer Corporation has been planned for
Sept. 21 and 22 at the Bronx headquarters of IPSO
NY/LaunderCenter.
Other companies participating in the event
include ESD, Vend-Rite, Greenwald, R&B, Standard
Change-Makers and Natco. Discounts of up to 75% will be offered
on new and used equipment.

NEFA Clean Classic tees off Aug. 1
Golfers will have a chance to get into the
swing of things on Thursday, Aug. 1, when the Northeast
Fabricare Association hosts
its 12th Annual “Clean Classic” golf outing.
Tee time starts promptly at 9:30 a.m. at
the award-winning Stow Acres Country Club located in Stow, MA.
Following a round of golf, NEFA will host a dinner and
cocktails. Golf packages start at $110 per person. Dinner
packages are an additional $45 per person. For more
