WFI plans fall conference
The Wisconsin Fabricare Institute will host its Fall Conference and Golf Outing from Sept. 13-15 at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
Highlighting the weekend will be the general business seminars on Saturday and Sunday morning. National Clothesline columnist Dennis McCrory will be on hand to discuss “Marketing.”  Later on, Bill Bishop, also a columnist for National Clothesline, will present “Demographics and Their Value.”
On Sunday, “Data Mining” will be discussed by marketing expert Darcy Moen, who contributes monthly articles to Fabricare Canada.
All three men work for the nationally-known marketing consultant team The Golomb Group.
In the afternoon, Department of Natural Resources Secretary Darrell Bazzell will round out the educational sessions by sharing his thoughts on the successes and value of drycleaner programs such as the Dry Cleaner Environmental Response program, Drycleaner Certification and the Five-Star program.
Also throughout the weekend, WFI will offer several networking opportunities, including a Friday night Western Barbecue Buffet with optional wagon ride and bonfire.
On Saturday, the golf outing at the Wilderness Golf Course will begin promptly at noon and will be followed by a Polynesian Luau that begins at 6:30 p.m. Golf prizes for the day’s winners will be rewarded.

Business programs highlight INDLA’s fall seminar
This year, the Iowa-Nebraska Drycleaners and Laundry Association believes all of the attendees for its Oct. 25-27 Fall Seminar will profit from the experience.
A slew of educational programs designed to help drycleaners make more money and be more efficient will punctuate the event, set to take place in the Hotel Savery in Des Moines, IA.
Deborah Lee Pedrick, president and owner of Asset Protection, will discuss “Worker’s Compensation: An Employer’s Friend or Foe” on Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m. Following at 9:30 a.m., Mark Gremler, president of the registered investment advisory firm Seniors Only Financial, will present “IRS and You and Investments, Too.”
After lunch, “Navigating the Future” by Jim Beecher of R.R. Street & Co. will look at where the industry is heading and how to plan accordingly.
Things will get rolling early on Sunday morning when Roxanne Rogers of The Rogers Resource presents “Working With Employees,” covering a variety of topics, including: preventing and responding to sexual harassment in the workplace; recruiting in a low unemployment environment; and hiring techniques.
In addition to the educational programming, INDLA has planned several social engagements, including an Early Arrival Hospitality from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the Court Avenue Brewing Company. On Saturday evening, a hospitality for exhibitors will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a banquet dinner a half hour later.
