SDA stain removal courses fast approaching
in November
The deadline is coming up fast for those
who wish to enroll in the November stain removal courses
offered by the Southwest Drycleaners Association at the association’s school located
at the International Textile Center on the campus of Texas Tech
University in Lubbock, TX.
Students need to apply by Nov. 1 in order
to reserve a place in the classroom. There is a 25-student
maximum limit.
Two separate courses will be offered by
school instructor Jane Zellers. A course for beginners will run
from Nov. 11-13.
Class hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
on Monday and Tuesday, and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The class will focus on proper stain
removal techniques, with an emphasis on dyes, pigments, prints
and finishes. Students will also learn to understand the proper
use of stain removal tools and be able to recognize terms such
as wetside, dryside, alkaline and acid.
Tuition is $290 per person for SDA
members, $360 for other IFI members and $425 for non-members.
An advanced stain removal course will run
from Nov. 13-15. Class hours will be 1 to 4:30 p.m. on
Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, and 8:30 to 11:
30 a.m. on Friday.
The second course will offer advanced
training techniques for stain removal. Students will gain a
better understanding of fiber content, weaves, garment
construction and how to test fiber content by burn testing.
There will also be hands-on training using bleaches and
digester.
Tuition is $280 per person for SDA
members; $345 for other IFI members; and $410 for non-members.
Out-of-town guests can reserve
accommodations at a nearby Four Points Sheraton Hotel in
Lubbock. SDA has secured a discounted rate of $52 plus tax for
single occupancy; an extra $5 will be charged for additional
people in the room, not to exceed four. Reservations should be
secured prior to Oct. 28.

Two-day leather class planned
The Royaltone
Academy will present a
two-day leather cleaning course on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 5
and 6 at its Royal Cleaners Suedemate Leather Cleaning Plant in
Tulsa, OK.
The course has both classroom instruction
and hands-on training provided by Frank Lucenta and his
Royaltone staff.
Cost is $400 per person for the two-day
session.

R.R. Street seminar set for Oct. 5
A seminar sponsored by R.R. Street &
Co., Inc. is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 in
Houston, TX. The event will be hosted by Gulf States Laundry
Machinery.
Instructor Kenney Slatten will be on-hand
to discuss effective cleaning with DF-2000 and demonstrate live
stain removal techniques.
