VANITY CLEANERS of Port Charlotte, FL, hosted a spotting course

Upcoming SEFA classes offer basic and advanced tips
The South Eastern Fabricare Association will be rounding out the year with educational offerings that appeal to both advanced drycleaners and beginners.
On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16 and 17, a two-day course on Basic and Advanced Spotting and Drycleaning will take place at Radiant Leather Care in North Palm Beach, FL.
Class instructor Dan Eisen will take the mystery out of the drycleaning machine and provide answers for common cleaning problems.
Day one of the course will be spent covering the basics of fiber and fabric classification. Weaves, dyes, prints and finishes will also be discussed. Not only will attendees learn how to get the most out of their drycleaning machine, they will gain a true understanding of pre-spotting and preparing garments for the cleaning process.
Students will also study the soil release curves and the effects of humidity and moisture content of solvent.
On the second day, Eisen will detail the importance of understanding and respecting the spotting chemicals. He’ll also outline the correct uses of acids, alkalis and lubricants, pointing out how each reacts with certain fibers, fabrics, dyes and finishes.
Students will also learn advanced techniques such as bleaching, dye stripping, mineral oil barriers and many more useful stain removal methods.
Later in the year, Instructor Martin Young will offer a Basic and Advanced Drycleaning and Wetcleaning course on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8.
The class will take place at Chris’ Dry Cleaning and Shirt Service in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
For more information on either course, contact the SEFA office by calling (877) 707-7332 or visit them on-line at www.sefa.org.
