Lake Charles Cleaners earns Chamber honor
AAA Drive-In Cleaners of Lake Charles, LA, was honored by the Southwest Louisiana Chamber of Commerce during its Quality Day event held on October 24. Based on the Baldrige Quality Award, the achievement was rewarded to AAA Drive-In because the company met a demanding standard of excellence and submitted to an audit performed by qualified professionals. The plant’s owner, Robert Guilott, accepted the award on behalf of his staff. He is a Certified Professional Drycleaners, a Certified Professional Wetcleaner and a Certified Environmental Drycleaner.
Equipment show planned for January in Delray Beach, FL
Cleaners will have an early opportunity next year to catch live demonstrations of drycleaning equipment at a show hosted at Equipment Systems of South Florida, Inc., located at 1700 Depot Ave. in Delray Beach, FL.
Scheduled for the weekend of January 18-19, the show will feature representatives from Edro Washers, Counters & Decor, Cleanpro Computers, Forenta, Gardner Denver Air Compressors, Rema, Hamilton Engineering Hot Water Systems, Hoyt, Kleen-Rite and Lattner Boilers.
In addition to witnessing live hydrocarbon cleaning and the latest shirt tensioning pressing equipment, cleaners will have access to several education seminars covering a variety of topics, including: the correct method of spotting and cleaning for hydrocarbon solvents; hazardous chemical safety; equipment maintenance; and spotting techniques.
Attendees can register to win a new Forenta single puff iron or an Ace Hi all steam iron.
Registration to the event is free. Refreshments will be served on the premises.
Those who plan on spending the night and attending both days are encouraged to make hotel reservations between the two south Florida airports, Palm Beach International and Ft. Lauderdale.

SEFA hosts two-day drycleaning seminar
The South East Fabricare Association will be offering a two-day course on Basic and Advanced Drycleaning and Wetcleaning on the weekend of December 7 and 8.
The course, taught by instructor Martin Young, will be taught at Chris’ Dry Cleaning and Shirt Service in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
The basics will be covered on the first day as attendees learn about fiber and fabric classification, weaves, dyes, prints and finishes. On the second day, more advanced techniques will be taught, including the correct uses of acids, alkalis and lubricants and how each reacts with certain fibers, fabrics, dyes and finishes.
