Leather and suede cleaning courses
available in OK
The Royaltone
Leather Cleaning Academy will
be hosting a set of upcoming classes on suede and leather
cleaning at its Royal Cleaners Suedemate Leather Cleaning Plant
located in Tulsa, OK.
Two-day sessions are set to take place on
Dec. 5 and 6 and Feb. 5 and 6. Class runs from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
and noon to 4:30 p.m. each day with an hour break for lunch in
between.
The class gives plant owners and managers
an opportunity to learn how to safely and easily spot,
wetclean, dryclean, press and refinish suedes, leathers and
furs with a higher profit-per-garment ratio.
Some specific topics that will be covered
include: identification of skins; drycleaning charge levels and
run times; testing drycleaning fluid; gluing and sewing;
pressing and forming; restoring luster; and water repelling and
sizing.
By mixing classroom instruction and
in-plant hands-on training by Frank Lucenta, Tom Lucenta and
the rest of the Royaltone staff, students receive a
well-rounded education.
The cost of the two-day program is $400
per person.
Students are provided with a complete
instruction manual written by course instructor, Frank Lucenta,
which is available in both English and Korean. They are also
encouraged to bring two suede or leather garments to work on
during the in-plant session.
Upon completion of a course at the
Royaltone Academy, attendees will be presented with a course
completion certificate. After-training support is provided
through a free hotline at (800) 331-5506.
Class size is limited for all courses at
the Royaltone Academy in order to provide individual
instruction.
Once enrolled, students will be notified
of their placement in the class and will be sent a class book
upon receipt of tuition. Representatives from Royaltone Academy
will also assist attendees with making hotel reservations at a
local hotel located near the Suedemate Plant.

Two Streets seminars set for 2003
R.R. Street & Co., Inc. will be
sponsoring drycleaning seminars taught by drycleaning expert
Kenney Slatten in Louisiana and Oklahoma during the early part
of 2003.
On Feb. 22, a seminar co-hosted by Ideal
Chemical & Supply Co. and Porter’s Cleaners in
Louisiana is slated to take place. Additional details are not
available at this time, but cleaners can call Mike Bailey of

updates.
A second seminar has been scheduled for
March 29 and will be co-hosted by Empire Supply, Inc. of
Oklahoma.
Slatten will offer a hands-on live
demonstration of basic stain removal and techniques on
effective drycleaning. He will also place emphasis on cleaning
with DF-2000 solvent.
The seminar will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lunch will be included.
