European Finishing Equipment Corp. is introducing a new vacuum finishing board, the PNB-1000AB.

The blowing board is a self-contained vacuum board that provides the option of switching

the air flow from vacuum for sharp creases to blowing upward for pressing garments on a cushion of air. Pressing on an air cushion is gentle to the fabric, making it desirable for delicate garments and for finishing garments without leaving seam or pocket impressions. It also prevents shine on dark fabrics.

The machine can be used for touch-ups at the plant away from the central boiler, at the drycleaning store front or drop-off store, for tailoring and alterations, clothing stores, tuxedo and bridal shops and valet services.

Like the PND-1000A vacuum board, the PND-1000AB is a professional strength, light duty pressing board. It has a heated pressing surface and an optional heated sleeve buck with vacuum and blowing. It requires no assembly and no special wiring.

Adding a Hi-Steam SVP-24 mini-boiler with iron creates a self-contained pressing station. This set-up can also be used in a coin laundry setting to provide pressing service for customers who don’t want to iron.

DRAPER, UT — Westgate Software is offering application hosting as an alternative to traditional on-site installation and management of software.

Application hosting lets drycleaners access the SPOT2000 application over the Internet without incurring the capital expense or personnel overhead of a complex computing infrastructure. With hosting, SPOT2000 software and all critical equipment for maintaining the computing infrastructure —†hardware, software and networking — resides within Westgate's secure commercial data center. The 24x7 data center has Internet firewall security, back-up generators, climate-control, redundant Internet communications, security officers and fire suppressions.

Westgate said the subscription-based hosting system removes day-to-day computer system operation for the drycleaner since the company assumes responsibility for system redundancy, software updates, on-going hardware maintenance, data back-ups and planned equipment obsolescence.

Hosting allows easy data consolidation. Real-time data centralization across multiple stores is possible in the hosting mode, implementing SPOT2000’s advanced user-definable features such as centralized A/R, point-to-point order/item tracking, graphical workflow management, garment production forecasting and commitment indicators, consolidated reporting, production problem alerts and automated conveyor assembly with visual lot management.

LITTLE ROCK, AR — Essick Air Products, Inc. has announced the addition of the GadAbout Blaster series of mobile evaporative coolers to its Tradewinds product line. The series features three cooler models that spot cool exterior and interior applications and are designed for

portability and cooling capacity — the M300, M335 and the M482.

The M300 is 39 5/8" high x 31 1/2" wide x 21" deep and provides air delivery of 3,000 CFM. It fits through standard-size doors for maximum portability.

The slightly larger, more vertical M335 model measures 41 1/8" high x 29" wide x 29" deep and provides air delivery of 3,500 CFM.

The M482, measuring 48 1/2" high x 34" wide x 34" deep, provides the most cooling performance at 4,500 CFM.

All models feature four heavy-duty swivel casters for easy transport. Standard features of the Blaster include a large water reservoir, ranging in size from 27 to 47 gallons, that allows the Blaster to operate independently of a water source. This feature enhances portability and provides hours of uninterrupted operation.

An external fill connector makes the Blaster adaptable to a water connection kit or garden hose for automatic fill. A recessed grill with four-way directional air control and an externally located sump drain makes the cooler easy to use.

The re-circulating oil-filled submersible water pump ensures long lasting dependability. LAS VEGAS, NV — Aqua-Gone Industries has introduced the Gobi Super evaporator. Designed for high volume and high purity requirements, the Gobi Super can evaporate 24 gallons in an eight-hour day. It can be connected to several drycleaning machines and also handle vacuum water.

Aqua-Gone products both for perc and hydrocarbon are molded from a plastic that is impervious to corrosion and breakage and carry a five-year warranty. Operating costs are minimized by simplicity of design, the use of inexpensive granulated carbon for purification, and small electrical consumption.

TULSA, OK — Royaltone’s Ink Load is a batch additive that is added to the drycleaning or wetcleaning wheel to remove ink and lipstick from ink and lipstick loads. Ink Load can be used in any drycleaning fluid, in any drycleaning machine and in wetcleaning or laundry washer. One quart of Ink Load will clean up a 40-lb. ink or lipstick load. For drycleaning, add Ink Load to the wheel at the ratio of eight ounces per ten pounds of ink or lipstick load items and batch clean for ten minutes with no filter. For wetcleaning, add Ink Load to the wash water eight ounces per ten pounds and wash for ten minutes.

COLD SPRING, KY — Stamford Chemical, a division of Fabritec International, has developed two pre-spotters — one of hydrocarbon solvents such as Exxon DF 2000 and Chevron Phillips EcoSolv and another for use with GreenEarth solvent.

Prespot HC for the hydrocarbon need no mixing and is safe on mist fabrics. Prespot GES is an approved prespotter for GreenEarth.

Both products are compatible with all drycleaning detergents.

WESTLAND, MI — Hamilton Engineering has changed the name of its Evolution 99 water heater to EVO 99. The company said it decided on the name change because many customers were calling it the EVO 99.

The EVO 99 is a modular, stackable water heater with a thermal efficiency rating up to 99.8 percent. Each unit provides 199,999 BTU per hour input. Multiple units can be integrated into a single customized system when paired with an appropriately sized storage tank.

EVO 99 can produce reported water heating cost savings of up to 50 percent when replacing older, less efficient systems. Hamilton reports that since its introduction at Clean ’01, more than 700 units have been installed across North America.

Ripon, WI— Ajax has announced its new rotating double-buck Empress. The new design provides two-in-one economical benefits of both a cabinet shirt machine and a sleever, allowing for the soft finish and two-step operation of the traditional Empress machine without sacrificing production.

The rotating double buck Empress is built to the same standards as the Classic and Falcon models with the dependability of the single-buck Empress. Teamed with the Ajax collar and cuff presses, the rotating double-buck Empress can produce shirts at a rate equal to a traditional three-piece shirt unit at a lower entry cost.

As with other Ajax cabinet shirt machines, the rotating double buck Empress features an integrated double blower system, on-board air filter, regulator, and lubricator, vacuum bucks, and porous air bags. It also incorporates flat heads and bucks, and cuff grippers with the Ajax-exclusive automatic release.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Kaeser Compressors has expanded its Sigma Frequency Control (SFC) compressors, making both the BSD and CSD rotary screw compressors available with variable speed drive to help achieve maximum efficiency.

Standard SFC compressor package are available from 40 to 300 HP (18 to 250 KW) and flows from 34 to 1,568 cfm, providing pressures from 80 to 217 psig. The direct drive airend/motor package is designed to provide the highest efficiency of the entire speed range of 20 to 100 percent. SFC compressor packages feature sound-proof enclosures, EPAct compliant motors and the proprietary Sigma Control system.
