Leather cleaning school in Chicago sets
two course dates
Kirk’s Suede-Life, Inc. will host two upcoming courses at its Leather
Val suede and leather cleaning school in Willowbrook, IL.
The school is located approximately 25
miles out of Chicago at 585 Executive Drive.
Both courses will run for three days and
be taught by John Conway, national sales director for
Kirk’s Suede-Life, and Nat Kurtzman, operations manager
of suede and leather for Bellingham Cleaners and director of
Kirk’s Cleaning Products in Montreal, Canada.
Upcoming course dates for this year are
March 7-9 and May 23-25.
The program will help students acquire
practical know-how for cleaning suede and leather using the
newest technology and the latest techniques and skills.
Topics to be covered include: skin
identification and classification; proper acceptance procedure
for garments; ins and outs of prespotting; suede spraying and
coloring; leather spraying and coloring; and press finishing.
All cleaning processes will be
demonstrated.
Cost for enrollment is $195 per plant.
Each plant can send up to three employees to attend.

for registrants by Kirk’s Suede-Life.

Spotting workshop comes to Indiana
The Indiana
Drycleaning and Laundry Association and the Laidlaw Corporation will be
co-sponsoring an upcoming spotting and stain removal workshop
at the Classic Cleaners plant located on Bash Ave. in
Indianapolis, IN.
The date for the session is Saturday,
March 8. It will run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The instructor will be Mike Achin,
director of chemical sales for Laidlaw.
He will spend the first half of the
workshop concentrating on basic spotting methods. The afternoon
will be devoted to advanced stain removal, including bleaching
techniques.
Cost is $50 per person for members. If
more than one person from the same drycleaning plant attends,
the fee is reduced to $40 for the second employee and $35 for
each additional attendee.
Non-members must pay $75. The fee is
reduced to $65 for the second person from the same plant and
