RMFA hosts convention in April
The Rocky Mountain
Fabricare Association will
be hosting its annual convention on April 11 and 12 at the
Sheraton Hotel of Colorado Springs, CO, located at 2886 South
Circle Drive.
This year’s program will feature
several guest speakers, including Kenney Slatten, founder and
president of Kenney Slatten Training Co., who will present a
spotting seminar.
Mary Scalco, vice president of IFI, will
be on hand to offer up a report on GreenEarth cleaning.
Other guest speakers will include: Joni Canterbury of the Small
Business Assistance Program, Debbie Barnett of Environmental
Forensic Investigations and Joe Blaha and Bob Blacker, who will
discuss equipment maintenance.
In addition to the educational sessions,
RMFA’s conference will also feature a full range of
allied trade exhibitors.
Registration for the event is $75 for
members and $100 for non-members prior to Friday, March 21.
After that date, the cost goes up to $100
for members and $125 for non-members.
Hotel rooms are available at the Sheraton
Colorado Springs at a discounted rate of $65 per night for
single or double occupancy or $120 per night for a suite. Those

Also on the horizon for RMFA is an
advanced spotting seminar set for Saturday, March 15 at
Mountain High Cleaners at 13053 W. Alameda Parkway in Lakewood,
CO.
The program, presented by Roland Dobbins,
will run from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. It is aimed toward helping
cleaners with at least one year of experience.
Cost is $179 for members and $209 for
no-members.

Marks to highlight TCATA conference
Mike Marks, cofounder of the Indian River
Consulting Group, will headline this year’s annual
management conference presented by the Textile Care
Allied Trades Association.
The event, which is set for April 23-26,
will be at the Marriott Laguna Cliffs in Dana Point, CA.
Marks will discuss ways in which
distributors and manufacturers can remain profitable in the
future. He will speak from 8 a.m. until noon on Friday, April
25.
He will be joined by another guest
speaker, Sondra Thiederman, Ph.D., who is the author of various
books that cover workplace diversity. She will address
cross-cultural challenges during her presentation from 8 a.m.
to noon on Saturday, April 26.
Also on the same day, a Silver Circle Club
reception and luncheon has been scheduled from 12:30 to 2:30
p.m. Later in the evening, a closing reception and party will
conclude the conference, running from 7 to 11 p.m.
The conference will kick off at 11 a.m. on
Wednesday, April 23, when registration begins.
Later in the day, TCATA will host a board
meeting at 12:30 p.m., a manufacturer meeting at 4 p.m. and an
opening reception at 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday, TCATA will present a golf
tournament. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

SDDCA hosts CARB class on March 29
The San Diego Dry Cleaners
Association will be
offering a drycleaners certification class on Saturday, March
29.
The class is the required California Air
Resources Board courses on the Air Toxic Control Measure.
Cost for the certification course is $100
for re-certification and $150 for first-time certification. A
book is provided for first time registrants.
The class will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
