Garment bulletins on searchable CD
SILVER SPRING, MD —“Problem Garment Profiles: An Educational Tool for Cleaners and Customers Featuring IFI’s Not in Vogue and TABS Bulletins,” is a new CD-ROM that contains all of the International Fabricare Institute’s in-print Technical Analysis Bulletins and Not In Vogue alerts through December 2002 from Fabricare
ifi CD cover
Resources: The Fabricare Journal of Technical Information.
With a few mouse clicks, the user can quickly print out the  bulletin appropriate to back up his or her explanation to a customer when discussing a suspect garment prior to cleaning. IFI’s TABS bulletins also lend credence when a drycleaner explains what happened to a garment that was damaged because of faulty care label instructions or a problem attributed to consumer use, such as “invisible” stains. The new CD-ROM also features a searchable manufacturers’ index that lets users find bulletins easily.
The CD is available exclusively to IFI members and special pre-Clean ’03 pricing is available.

Shirt hold-down for sleever
RIPON, WI — Ajax has introduced a new feature on its Cabinet Bag Sleever presses. Available as a standard feature on current production models and as a retrofit item for existing sleevers, the shirt hold-down device ensures that the shirt is held in place during sleeve pressing by preventing the shirt from riding up as the airbags inflate.
Ajax said that the new feature makes it more efficient for operators to press shirts and that productivity will improve because the operator can move on to another task more quickly than on earlier models.
Ajax is a division of Alliance Laundry Systems LLC, a manufacturer of commercial laundry and drycleaning equipment.

Waste water evaporator
LAS VEGAS, NV — Aqua-Gone Industries has introduced its “Hi-Volume” option on the Gobi line of automatic evaporators. The company said this addition will provide evaporation rates up to six gallons per hour for large industrial users or allow several drycleaning machines to use one evaporator.

Odor fixer
Ultra-Odor
TULSA, OK — Royaltone’s Ultra Odor is a liquid additive for neutralizing undesirable organic odors, including pet odors and smoke odor, in drycleaning or wetcleaning of clothing and household items.
One ounce of Ultra Odor is used per ten pounds of odoriferous or fire damaged articles to neutralize foul odors and smoke odors. In drycleaning, batch clean for five minutes with no filter. In wetcleaning, wash for five minutes.

Robotic shirt system
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Hoffman/New Yorker has announced its new Robotic shirt system which combines traditional shirt finishing with a new concept of tensioning.
HOFFMAN
The self-contained vacuum provides control of the shirt for proper placement under the front placket paddle. Automatic side seam tensioning and simultaneous back tensioning lets the semi-porous bag contour the shirt. A high-volume blower concentrates super heated air into the entire shirt to produce a dry, high quality finish in under one minute.
Colored shirts and pullovers can be finished without shine and glazing of heavy seam areas. Smaller shirts and ladies’ blouses can be finished without  special handling.
The system also can be used for items that have been drycleaned but need a harder finisher than can be achieved by traditional presses.
This unit, in combination with the Hoffman Model ALCY-8 collar, cuff and yoke will handle the shirt volume of a small to medium operation.
