Tennessee cleaner honors daughter,
soldiers
To show its support to American troops,
Douglas Corner Cleaners and Wardrobe Services of Nashville, TN,
is offering a placard version of the Blue Star Mother’s
Service Banner to its customers.
“This is something that is my own
unique way of supporting my daughter, Sgt. Erica Efron, our
other service people and their families,” said plant
owner Phil Efron, a veteran of the Korean War and who was also
stationed in Vietnam. “I am very proud of my daughter,
who is currently in Italy serving her country, so I wanted to
do something to honor her and all the service men and women
across this great nation.”
Efron’s daughter is a member of the
Army’s 509th Signal Battalion.
Official Blue Star Mother’s Banners
are authorized by the Department of Defense and are
traditionally displayed during wartime. The banner is a white
field bordered by red and contains a blue star in the center
for each member of a family actively serving in the armed
forces.
The replicas offered by Douglas Corner
Cleaners are designed to fit easily in a home or car window.
The plant also cleans American flags for free.
