New York Times advises:
Consider drycleaning
The New York Times reported recently that
General Electric is bringing out a new washer-dryer combo in
which the washer talks to the dryer electronically. The Times
explained: “Once you set the wash cycle, there is no need
to program the dryer. The washing machine communicates the type
of fabric and duration of the cycle and selects the appropriate
dyer settings. A stain inspector feature can choose a wash
cycle based on the type of stain, the fabric and the color of
the clothing. The system has two temperature sensors that help
prevent under- or overdrying based on the type of stain, the
fabric and the color of the clothing.”
It’s all operated by electronic
touch pads with liquid-crystal display touch screen. List price
is $1,998 to $2,198. Comment from the Times: “One might
consider drycleaning.”
GE features the Profile Harmony Clothes
Care System on its web site, www.geappliances.com/harmony,
where you can check out its features, view a 40-second video
and place an order on-line.
