SDA installs new directors, officers for
2003-2004 term
The new officers for the Southwest
Drycleaners Association are
in place for the 2003-2004 term, which began on the first of
May.
Taking over the president’s duties
from Pat Godo is Danny Renteria, CED, of Kwik-N-Neat Cleaners
in San Antonio, TX.
Godo, who runs Avon Cleaners in Dallas,
will remain on the association’s board of directors.
Renteria is a lifetime resident of San
Antonio who attended Texas Lutheran College and St.
Mary’s University.
Following in the footsteps of his father,
Manuel, he has been a part of the family’s drycleaning
business for the past 31 years.
In the past, Renteria served as president
of the San Antonio Laundry & Drycleaning Association and
has been on SDA’s board of directors for 16 years.
Renteria’s second-in-command will be
SDA 1st Vice President Rick J. Sims of Sims City Cleaners, Inc.
in Houston, TX. Sims moved up from his position as 2nd vice
president, leaving the spot open for James G. Shepherd, CED,
CPD, of The Cleaners of Ruston in Louisiana.
Rounding out the new officers is Luther
Creel III of M&B Hangers in Mobile, AL. He is the
association’s new Sgt.-At-Arms.
SDA also added several new directors to
its board for the new term, including: Samuel E. Dankers of Old
Town Dry Cleaners in Beltonville, AL; Brian C. Gieber, CED, of
Stickel Cleaners in Manhattan, KS; Elizabeth Littrell of Spot
Light Cleaners in Knob Noster, MO; and Anne Hacker of Northside
Laundry & Cleaners, Inc. in Stillwater, OK.
In other changes, three SDA board members
moved over to new positions as association ambassadors: John E.
Neal of Ineeda Cleaners in Hutchinson, KS; David L. Pesses of
All Star Cleaners in New Orleans, LA; and Bruce L. Baldwin of
Rawhide Leather Care in Austin, TX. Joining them will be
SDA’s fourth new ambassador — George M. Allen of
Budget Cleaners in Gulfport, MS.
In addition to installing its new officers
and directors, SDA also recently invited all of its members to
a casual get-together reception at this year’s Clean
Show, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from August
11-14.
SDA members will have an opportunity to
network and enjoy hors d’oeuvres from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, August 12. The event will take place in the
Virginia City 2 Room of the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel.
Those planning to attend should R.S.V.P.
to the association by calling (888) 732-2567 by August. 1.
