Association of Bridal Consultants honors
Conant
Over 300 members of the Association of
Bridal Consultants recently met at a conference held in
Scottsdale, Arizona. Attendees witnessed the recreation of an
authentic Japanese wedding ceremony and heard a keynote address
from event planner and television host Colin Cowie.
Also during the event, the association
chose to recognize Sally Lorenson Conant, Ph.D. for her efforts
as a conservationist.
“Conant is a long-time member who
has always been ahead of the curve,” said Gerard
Monaghan, president of the Association of Bridal Consultants.
“Her company, Orange Restoration Labs, is one of the
largest wedding gown restoration and preservation services in
the northeast, and she was one of the first vendors to provide
special services for our bridal consultants to achieve
professional recognition from the association.”
Conant, a former museum professional,
works as the administrative coordinator for the Association of
Wedding Gown Specialists, a not-for-profit association of
specialty cleaners in the United States, Canada and Australia
who care for heirloom textiles of all types.
In addition to developing an emergency
gown care kit for wedding day accidents, Conant is also
responsible for the implementation of WGS Courier Service,
which is designed specifically to make members of WGS easily
accessible by the phone or the Internet for brides and bridal
consultants who are located outside market areas with local
gown preservation service.
Conant also contributes regularly to
publications such as Modern Bride, Bride’s and Wedding
Pages, and is a member of the Textile Society of America, the
American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and
Artistic Works, and the Association of American Historians of
Art.
