Letter to the Editor
The fastest horse was scratched
To the Editor:
Here we go again!
When Don Desrosiers states in his August
concluding article, A tagging and assembly face-off, “we
continue the contest pitting one system against another,”
he conveniently excluded Polymark.
By excluding Polymark, he has
“scratched” not only the fastest
“horse” from the race, he has flawed the true
results of the contest.
It’s a given, the cost of labor is
the key factor in the shirt laundry profit picture. Invest in
user friendly, dependable, high production equipment, and get
your money back in productivity. Time studies and actual
practice have proven the simple to use, dependable, Polymark
System to be the fastest shirt tagging and assembly system in
the industry.
The most common cause of problematic
mix-ups, errors and error claims in shirt laundries is
transposition of numbers. Why employ methods to correct these
mistakes, when you can get a system to prevent them. It is
impossible to transpose any customer number in the 15 Order
Polymark Lot System!
I can go on and on about the true value of
the Polymark System, and sound like a Polymark commercial, but
my purpose in writing was to set a few of the basic facts
straight.
I notice Don always closes his articles
with a sentence Polymark started using on the cover of a
brochure (copy enclosed), when he was still running a laundry
in Fall River, MA. Polymark said it a little differently.
“If you continue to do what you have always done, you
will continue to get what you have always gotten.”
Well, they say copying is the best form of
flattery. Thanks, Don.

been involved with Polymark since 1957. He has visited
laundries and attended laundry trade shows throughout the U.S.
and Great Britain. With his knowledge regarding laundry
identification systems, work flow, scheduling and management,
in conjunction with the Polymark System, he has helped many
plant owners improve their bottom-line profit to earn the
increased profit they deserve. He developed the MBH Rope-Tie, a
