WFI set to host convention
Attendees of the Wisconsin
Fabricare Institute’s annual
fall conference will have a busy mix of fun and educational
activities to choose from.
The event will be held at the Stone Harbor
Resort in Sturgeon Bay, WI, from September 12-14.
After relaxing on Friday evening —
when WFI hosts a “Pirate Party” and barbecue
cook-out — cleaners will be refreshed and ready to learn
on Saturday morning.
The first educational seminar of the
conference will be presented by John Mozingo, director of
management training for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He
will discuss time management principles and techniques for
getting better organized in “Today I’ve Got to Get
Organized” from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m.
At noon, golfers will have a chance to
attend WFI’s golf outing at The Orchards in Egg Harbor
before spending the evening at the association’s
reception and Caribbean-themed buffet dinner.
It’s back to business on Sunday
morning when WFI holds its general membership meeting at 9 a.m.
Afterward, hour-long roundtable discussions are planned for 9:
15 and 10:30 a.m.
One panelist will be Dennis Schmitt of
Lindeman’s Cleaning, Inc., who will discuss
“Spotting/Problem Garments.” He will be joined by
Jeff Fitzgerald of the Herb Fitzgerald Company, who will
provide knowledge of equipment maintenance, and Tom Grimm of
One Hour Martinizing, who will discuss advertising and
marketing.
A pizza and pasta buffet lunch will be
served afterward at 11:30 a.m.
Registration costs $145 per member for
admittance to everything, including golf; or $115 per person
for those who wish to attend everything except for the golf
outing. Non-members pay an additional $15 to attend all events.
Attendees may also purchase access to
individual events only. The Friday evening festivities cost $35
per person, as does the Saturday buffet breakfast and business
sessions. The Saturday reception and dinner costs $45 per
person and full access to the Sunday continental breakfast,
business sessions and pizza buffet lunch is $35 per person.
Golfers pay $65 each for 18 holes at The Orchards.
Non-members pay $5 more for each
individual registration.

INDLA’s fall conference focuses on
communication
Improving communication will be one of the
educational themes at the Iowa-Nebraska
Drycleaners and Laundry Association’s fall seminar, Sept. 12-13, at Harrah’s
Casino in Council Bluffs, IA.
Comedian Juli Burney, an assistant
professor of communication and theater at Doane College in
Lincoln, NE, will motivate attendees with her humorous musings
on communication.
Additionally, INDLA has also planned a
seminar that will focus on how cleaners can communicate better
with customers and build a positive relationship.
Alternative solvents of the future will
also be discussed and representatives from the Iowa Waste
Reduction Center will offer their service and advice to
cleaners.
Registration is $75 per person for INDLA
members and $125 per person for non-members. The deadline is
August 29.
For more information on the event, contact
INDLA administrator Kim Tempel at (515) 225-2323 or e-mail the
office at: indla@assocserv.com.
