Dependable opens 17th store
Dependable Cleaners celebrated the opening of the newest of the company’s 17 retail locations, the Norwood store, with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 23, 2003. Regional officials, Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce members and local business owners took part in the festivities. Headquartered in Quincy, MA, Dependable Cleaners is a three-generation, family company, which was founded in 1944. California association honors Norm Korey
The California
Cleaners Association honored
Norm Korey, president of Wyatt-Bennett as its Allied
Tradesperson of the Year during the association’s annual
awards dinner. Korey began working in the industry at age 12,
helping his father install and service drycleaning equipment.
After graduating from the University of Southern California
with a degree in industrial engineering, he began working full
time, selling, installing and servicing equipment. He was a
drycleaning operator as a partner in more than 30 plants from
1967 to 1987 before joining Wyatt-Bennett. Over the years, he
has been active in the California Cleaners Association, the
International Fabricare Institute, the International
Drycleaners Congress and the Laundry and Drycleaning Suppliers
organization.
Wascomat donates wetcleaning system to IFI
Thanks to a donation from Wascomat, an older model wetcleaning system in the International Fabricare Institute’s training
facility has been replaced
with a state-of-the-art wetcleaning washer and dryer. Dan
Goldman, national sales manager for Wascomat, also discussed
the theory and principles of wetcleaning with an IFI class.
“We count on companies like Wascomat
to help keep IFI at the forefront of constantly changing fabric
care technology,” IFI Instructor Brian Johnson said.
Sankosha promotes Nelson
Wesley Nelson has been promoted to
president at Sankosha USA Inc. Nelson has been with Sankosha for 10 years
and most recently served as vice president of sales and
marketing. The promotion officially took effect on Oct. 24.
Takaeshi Yamaguchi, president of Sankosha, will maintain an
affiliation with Sankosha USA but will be residing in Japan.
Union honors Evangelos
Evangelos Drycleaning & Laundry Equipment in the Bronx, New York, has been named
Distributor of the Year for 2003 by Union
Drycleaning Products USA. Accepting
the award from Jim Carroll, Union's National Sales Manager
(left), is Dino Georgio of Evangelos. The award was presented
during Clean '03.
