SEFA announces February seminars on finishing, spotting
February will be a good time for cleaners to brush up on their finishing and spotting skills next year. The South Eastern Fabricare Association has announced seminars on both subjects that will take place in Florida.
Drycleaning expert Jane Zellers, who often serves as the instructor for classes at the Southwest Drycleaners Association’s school in Lubbock, Texas, will be on hand to deliver practical cleaning tips.
On Saturday, February 21, a program on “Professional Finishing” will help attendees refresh and expand their basic finishing techniques.
Students will also learn about the three variables inherent in all finishing, making the process much simpler.
Zellers will be giving live demonstrations on advanced finishing equipment, as well.
Cleaners who are frustrated looking for good information on quality spotting will want to attend the second seminar, “Spot Safe,” which is scheduled for the following day on Sunday, February 22.
The class will take a close look at some of the more recent “problem stains” making their way into drycleaning plants.
It will also cover the correct uses of acids, alkalis and lubricants and how each reacts to certain fibers, fabrics, dyes and finishes.
Both seminars will be hosted at Unipress, Inc., located at 3501 Queen Palm Dr. in Tampa, FL.
Cost is $99 each for SEFA/IFI members, but only $89 for each additional member.
Non-members must pay $129 each.
For more information on the seminars, contact the SEFA office by calling (813) 623-3731. Cleaners may register online at the association’s web site, located at www.sefa.org.
