SDA offers package discount for early Big
Show registrants
The Southwest
Drycleaners Association is
offering a “Big Deal” registration package to
attendees who sign up early for its Big Show 2004, planned for
March 5-7 in Houston, Texas.
Cleaners have until February 12 to take
advantage of a $99 complete registration package that includes
admittance to the exhibit hall and all of the weekend’s
educational seminars and social functions, such as the welcome
reception, the attendee/spouse hospitality, the general
membership and awards meeting, and an SDA get-together and
celebration complete with dinner and dancing.
Astronaut John Blaha, IFI Garment Analyst
Chris Allsbrooks and family business expert Margery Loeb will
be the speakers headlining this year’s show, which will
take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center at 1001
Avenida De Las Americas.
Blaha, a pilot on two space missions and a
commander on two more, has been a NASA astronaut since 1980,
logging in more than 7,000 hours of flying in 34 different
aircraft.
He will draw on all of his life
experiences to share “Major Observations of a 17-Year
NASA Career” for show attendees at 8 a.m. on the morning
of Saturday, March 6.
On Sunday morning, Allsbrooks will delve
into the subject of how cleaners should handle difficult
customers with an 8 a.m. presentation on “There’s A
Monster at My Counter!”
She will outline methods on how counter
personnel can turn negative customer service situations into
positive experiences that will increase customer loyalty and
overall cleaning sales.
Following that seminar will be another one
on “Families in Business” at 9 a.m. Loeb will
discuss the complex issue of mixing family and business with an
emphasis on how to make the transition from one generation to
another a little smoother.
Once the educational sessions conclude on
each day, SDA will open up its exhibit hall to the public.
Cleaners will have an opportunity to walk the aisles between 9:
30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. until 4
p.m. on Sunday.
As has been the tradition in the past, SDA
will also offer plenty of social functions for attendees,
including a golf tournament at noon on Thursday, March 4. The
cost is $60 per person. Cleaners must register separately by
February 20.
Also on the agenda will be an
attendee/spouse hospitality at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 9
a.m. on Friday, March 5. Later in the day, the association will
present its general membership and awards meeting at 1 p.m. and
a welcome reception at 6:30 p.m., which both take place at the
Hyatt, as well.
On Saturday evening, SDA will begin the
social hour at 6:30 p.m. with a get-together event for industry
members, followed by a celebration dinner at 7 p.m., which will
feature live music and dancing afterward.
Room reservations are available to
attendees at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, located at 1200 Louisiana
St. in Houston. A special discount rate of $113 for
single/double occupancy has been reserved for cleaners who call
prior to February 12, 2004, and mention their affiliation with
the Big Show 2004.
The hotel is also offering special rates
for triple occupancy, $138 nightly, and quad occupancy, $163
nightly. To make reservations, call (713) 654-1234.
To register or find out more information
on the show, call SDA at (210) 826-4684.
