IFI offers courses
in English and Korean
Four sessions of the International Fabricare Institute’s introductory and advanced drycleaning courses remain on the calendar for 2004.
The one-week introductory class is designed for individuals with less than one year of overall industry experience. The course covers fibers and fabrics; work flow; principles of the drycleaning process; assembly and invoicing; the drycleaning machine; cleaning and drying cycles; elementary stain removal; and finishing procedures for pants, coats and skirts.
The introductory course will be held May 3-7, July 12-16, August 9-13, and October 18-22. The class will be available in Korean during the week of July 12-16.
Students who complete the course can build on that knowledge with the two-week advanced course, which is aimed at helping owners and managers with more than one year of production experience.
The two-week advanced class covers speciality fabrics and fiber identification; advanced stain removal procedures and bleaches; finishing blouses, dresses, ties, all-weather coats, pleats, pile fabrics, silks and rayons; wetcleaning; solvents, detergents, moisture, filtration and distillation for perchloroethylene and petroleum systems; troubleshooting the drycleaning system; regulations and care labeling; plant layout and work flow; customer service; and business management.
The course will be offered May 10-21; July 19-30; August 16-27; and October 25-November 5. The July 19-30 class will be available in both English and Korean.
All classes are at IFI’s headquarters in Silver Spring, MD. Tuition for the introductory course is $450 for IFI members and $695 for non-members. The two-week advanced class is $900 for IFI members and $1,390 for non-members.
Students also have the option of enrolling in the introductory and advanced classes concurrently. The cost for enrollment in the full three-week general course is $1,250 for IFI members and $1,995 for non-members.
