Finishing seminar comes to Waukesha
On Saturday, March 20, the Wisconsin Fabricare Institute and the International Fabricare Institute will co-sponsor a hands-on educational training session for cleaners who want to improve the quality of their finishing.
The seminar will run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Klinke Cleaners in Waukesha, WI, located in Westbrook Shopping Center at 2110 E. Moreland Blvd.
New time-saving finishing techniques will be covered, demonstrating ways to improve finishing quality by avoiding problems like double creasing, seam impressions and swirl marks on rayon pants.
Cost to attend is $69 for the first member from each plant and $59 for additional members. Lunch will be provided.

Free program in 2-day expo at Firbimatic
EcoDry of America/Firbimatic, Haiges Machinery Inc., and R.R. Street & Co. Inc. will sponsor live demonstrations, featuring Kenney Slatten, of hydrocarbon cleaning and spotting techniques on April 2 and 3.
Factory-trained personnel will be on hand to demonstrate hydrocarbon machine operation and maintenance procedures.
The event will run from noon to 7 p.m each day. The Cleaning Expo will be held at Firbimatic, 11972-L Oak Creek Parkway, Huntley, IL.

Two-day suede and leather class coming in March
Cleaners seeking to learn more about professional suede and leather handling procedures will have an opportunity on Saturday and Sunday, March 6 and 7, in Willowbrook, IL.
Kirk’s Suede-Life will host a class at its cleaning school, located on 825 75th St., Suite H.
Students will participate in hands-on instruction, focussing on topics such as how to properly accept garments at your counter and how to recognize and treat problem garments.
Other topics include: how leather and suede are tanned; identification and treatment methods for all garments; proper cleaning procedures featuring wet processing; pressing and steam/air finishing methods; safe and effective pre-spotting methods; and spray recoloring procedures.
The class will look at all aspects of professional processing, including how to increase your business and how to sell your service.
The school begins at 7:30 a.m. on both days. Attendees may bring up to six garments with them for processing.
Registration costs $195 per plant, which includes up to three people from each plant.
In addition to the class tuition, attendees will require room accommodations at the nearby Holiday Inn in Willowbrook, located at 7800 S. Kingery Highway, Route 83. The room rate is $74 per night, not including tax. To make reservations, call (630) 323-1537.
