NCALC finalizes speakers for Carolina Clean ’04
With Memorial Day weekend approaching fast, the North Carolina Association of Launderers and Cleaners is gearing up for its 97th annual convention.
This year, Carolina Clean ’04 will be held in Atlantic Beach, NC, from May 28 -31.
In addition to its allied trades tabletop exhibits, the association has planned a busy schedule of challenging educational programs, including seminars by Bill Seitz, John Meijer, Fran Sadler, Dave Silliman and Don Fawcett.
Seitz, a former executive director of the National Cleaners Association with over 60 years of cleaning experience, will examine the state of the industry with “Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going.”
He will also discuss “Prospering in the Drycleaning Business.” Both sessions will run for approximately 90 minutes.
Industry consultant Fran Sadler will be on hand to look at “The Elements of Quality and Productivity.” She is a CED, CPD and an award-winning Dale Carnegie graduate. Some of the secrets she has gathered over the years while training plant employees all over America will be revealed to attendees.
“How to Positively Affect Your Reputation” will be presented by Dave Silliman, owner of Uptowne Drycleaning in Phoenix, AZ. Often referred to as “Dryclean Dave,” Silliman serves as IFI’s District 7 District Committee Member and was the recipient of IFI’s Commitment to Professionalism Award in 2003 at the Clean Show in Las Vegas. He will divulge tips on how cleaners can raise the bar of their own professionalism, resulting in more loyal customers.
As the vice president of membership and marketing for IFI, Jon Meijer is very knowledgeable on the subject of: “Customers: How to Hold Them.” Meijer earned a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Cleaning and Laundry Association Executives.
IFI President Don Fawcett, co-owner of the 17-store chain Dependable Cleaners in Quincy, MA, will deliver the weekend’s keynote address. He was first elected to the IFI Board in 1999 as District 1 Director and later served as IFI's Treasurer and President-Elect.
The event will be hosted at the Atlantic Beach Sheraton Hotel. A special discounted room rate of $132 per night for single or double occupancy is available by calling (800) 214-0258 and mentioning Carolina Clean ’04.
NCALC will also conduct several fun social activities, including a shrimparoo, a luau costume party, a sunbathing and socializing event and a reception and banquet. There will also be opportunities to enjoy local sights and attractions in North Carolina.
