Dryclean USA reports revenue, earnings boost
Dryclean USA, Inc. last month reported improved operating results for both the nine- and three-month periods ended March 31, 2004.
Revenues for the nine month period ended March 31, 2004, were $11 million compared to $10.4 million for the same period of a year ago. Net earnings increased 20.6 percent to $368,778 for the nine-month period of fiscal 2004, from $305,757 for the same period of fiscal 2003.
For the third quarter of fiscal 2004, revenues increased to $3.5 million from $3.1 million for the third quarter of last year. Net earnings for the three-month period increased to $89,531 in fiscal 2004 from $77,627 for the same fiscal 2003 period.
“Both revenues and earnings continue to improve as the economy strengthens,” said Venerando J. Indelicato, chief financial officer of Dryclean USA, Inc.
“Unfortunately, the South American economy continues to be sluggish affecting our exports, therefore, any improvements in our performance were generated by the domestic market,” he continued. “Should these conditions stabilize, it can only improve our future outlook.”
Dryclean USA, Inc., one of the larger franchise and license operations in the drycleaning industry, has more than 400 franchised and license stores in the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America. Founded in 1960, its drycleaning and laundry machinery division is also one of the nation’s leading distributors of industrial laundry, drycleaning machines and steam boilers.

Cleaner helps new grads job hunt
For many high school and college students, graduation is one of the happiest moments of their lives. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most stressful.
After all, earning the diploma was just the first step. The next challenge they face is to stand out against the competition and start a professional career.
For recent grads in Cincinnati, Ohio, at least the job interview process will be a little easier thanks to a local drycleaning store — Appearance Plus Cleaners. The company has developed a “Dapper Diploma” program that assists graduates seeking jobs in the Cincinnati area by offering free drycleaning services.
According to Jon Lindy, chief operating officer of Appearance Plus, any 2004 high school or college graduate can simply present their diploma (or other proof of graduation) at any of the company’s locations and they will receive one free suit cleaning for an upcoming interview.
“Looking for a new job is an intimidating experience, especially for someone coming straight out of school who has very little experience in interviewing,” Lindy said.
“We want to use our expertise in drycleaning to help ease the nerves of some of the newest job seekers out there. By cleaning and pressing the suit of someone with an interview, we can provide confidence that they will look great for the big day and give them one less thing to worry about.”
Dapper Diploma officially launched on April 12 and will continue through August 31. The program is just the first part of a “Get Cincinnati Working” campaign sponsored by Appearance Plus.
In May, the company also began “The Big Interview” initiative which invites all Cincinnati job seekers to take advantage of one free suit cleaning prior to an interview. The program will be effective through September 30 of this year.
Appearance Plus, headquartered in Anderson, Ohio, opened its first store in 1984 and has served the Greater Cincinnati area ever since. The company also has locations downtown and in Hyde Park. For more information, visit its web site at www.appearanceplus.com.
