Fabricare 2004 show in Long Beach to focus
on themes of industry education, unification
The California Cleaners Association is basing the core of its 2004 Fabricare convention and trade show on two basic precepts: cleaners must educate themselves on their craft to ensure their business will survive, and they must unite together in order for the industry to thrive.
Cleaners will get their fill of both education and unification by attending the event, which will be held from August 27-29 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
An Early Bird Cocktail Reception will start the ball rolling on Thursday evening at 6:30 pm before the educational seminars begin at 9 am on the following morning.
“Leases — How to Negotiate (Or Renegotiate) For Maximum Success!” will be presented first by Kelly Kelleher of Kelleher Equipment Co.
Attendees will learn how leases can contain detrimental components, such as hidden costs, fine print conditions and environmental concerns, thus leading to a painful negotiation process. Armed with the right knowledge, however, cleaners can avoid common pitfalls and make certain they make the best deal possible.
Afterward, “Contamination! They Want to Test. What Do You Do?” will be delivered by Lisa Bond of Richards Watson Gershon. She will divulge to cleaners the secrets of how to best handle environmental testing requests made by landlords, or city or community members. The program will run from 10:15 to 11:30 am
Immediately following will be the convention’s official opening ceremony, which will include the election of CCA’s 2004-2005 officers, the division election results and a meeting of the association’s board of directors.

At 10 am, Chris Baggot of Exact Target will examine the subject of “E-Marketing for Your Business — It’s Easier Than You Think.”
