Booth sales soar for PDCA Expo 2004 in
Atlantic City
As the Drycleaning and Laundry Expo 2004
draws closer, its sales’ numbers continue to climb.
Recently, the Pennsylvania
and Delaware Cleaners Association reported that over 240 booths have already been
sold for the event, which promises to be one of the largest and
mostly highly attended exhibits this year.
Scheduled for October 2 and 3 at the
Atlantic City Convention Center in New Jersey, it will feature
an extensive array of equipment and supplies for the
drycleaning and laundry industries.
There will be live demonstrations on the
convention floor, as well.
This year’s focal point will be
“Give Yourself the Competitive Edge.” The
show’s organizers have planned educational seminars that
will help cleaners improve their business’s bottom line.
All of the sessions will involve
interaction between the speakers and the audience. In fact,
attendees are encouraged to discuss points being made and ask
questions.
On Saturday, a meeting with IFI CEO Bill
Fisher will center around the topic of “How to Get a
Competitive Edge in Any Business Climate.” He will
outline business approaches that will help cleaners prepare for
future challenges.
Afterward, Bill Odorizzi, president of the
Textile Care Allied Trades Association and vice president of FH
Bonn Co., will be on hand to discuss how to obtain greater
customer and employee satisfaction.
On Sunday, Jane Zellers will lead a
“Discussion with the Pros” over a free breakfast at
8:45 a.m. Zellers, the chief instructor for the Southwest
Drycleaners Association’s drycleaning school at Texas
Tech University in Lubbock, will oversee a panel of various
industry leaders who will outline several ways to enhance and
expand profitability.
PDCA plans to offer more interaction
for cleaners — albeit in a more fun atmosphere
— during the weekend’s two receptions.
On Friday, the association will host a
casual welcome reception with a cash bar. The mixer will begin
at 6:30 p.m. and last about an hour.
Then, on Saturday, following the closing
of the exhibit hall, a more elegant reception with cocktails
and hot and cold hors d’ouevres has been scheduled, also
at 6:30 p.m.
The headquarters hotel for Expo 2004 is
the luxurious Borgata in Atlantic City. Attendees can take
advantage of a greatly reduced rate of $185 per night for
single or double occupancy rooms. For reservations, contact the
hotel at (866) 692-6742 and mention PDCA. The deadline is
September 10.
The hotel will offer free shuttles back
and forth between the Borgata and the convention center. The
buses will run in 20-minute loops on Saturday between 8 a.m.
and 7 p.m., and again on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Full registration packages that include
admission to all events are available for $50 per person.
Individual packages may also be purchased. The cost is $20 for
the Saturday seminar; $20 for the Sunday breakfast and seminar;
and $25 for the Saturday night reception.
Admission to the exhibit hall is free. It
will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10
a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Online registration is available at
www.pdclean.org. For more information, contact the association
at (800) 822-7352.
