WFI announces speaker lineup for its 2004 fall conference
Image is important in the drycleaning industry. How your customers perceive your business and its employees plays a large role in whether or not they’ll return in the future.
Cleaners searching for ideas on how they can boost their image may want to attend the Wisconsin Fabricate Institute’s 2004 Fall Conference and Golf Outing, planned for the weekend of Sept. 17-19 at the Holiday Inn in Tomah, WI.
Guest speaker Norm Oehlke will be on hand to share his insight on the importance of “Your Image” in a Saturday morning seminar presentation. Oehlke, a former IFI analyst, instructor and consumer relations expert, currently works as an independent consultant and writes a column for American Drycleaner.
Also on the educational itinerary will be Sunday sessions featuring attorney Daniel Finerty and Robin Schmidt from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Finerty, a graduate of Marquette University Law School, will present “Employment and Personnel Policies Every Business Should Have.”
Schmidt, whose practice focuses on employment discrimination and other general labor law matters, will discuss the changes to the bidding process in the DERF program and how those changes may affect actions cleaners take during environmental cleanups. The seminar will be called: “Uncertainties in Remedy Selection.”
Sunday’s programming will end with a panel discussion featuring several WFI members and experts who will share firsthand testimonies of their experiences with DERF cleanups.
As an added educational bonus, local plant Band Box Cleaners & Laundry, Inc., will be opening its doors so attendees can tour its facilities over the course of the weekend.
Plenty of other activities have already been planned, as well. On Friday, cleaners can update their credentials by taking the certification tests. Afterward, WFI will host a board of directors meeting where the officer elections will take place.
Later that night, there will be a Halloween party with prizes handed out for Best Adult Costumes. Children who attend will be able to trick or treat after dinner.
On Saturday, golf lovers will have a chance to get in the swing of things with a golf outing and lunch at the Hiawatha Golf Club. Attendees who prefer other avenues of relaxation may choose to take a guided tour through Wisconsin’s Amish Country.
Later in the evening, WFI will present a Country Western reception and buffet dinner.
The association will also hold a general membership meeting on Sunday morning.
Hotel accommodations at the Holiday Inn are offered to convention-goers at a rate of $72 per night for single, double, triple or quad occupancy. Amenities include a spacious pool, whirlpool, fitness center, a game and video arcade for kids, a fishing pool and an outdoor driving range.
Reservations must be procured by September 1. Call (608) 372-3211.
Registration for WFI’s Fall Conference is $115 per cleaner and $95 for spouses. The fee covers admission to all events except for the golf tournament and the Amish Country tour.
There are special registration rates for children, as well.
