CCA schedule offers classes throughout state this fall
Educational opportunities for drycleaners throughout California will be cropping up in the coming months, including three that will take place in the northern part of the state.
The California Cleaners Association’s Northern California Dry Cleaning School will offer three hands-on seminars in the next three months at its host plant, Snow Cleaners Inc., which is located at 38 W. Sonora St. in Stockton, CA.
The first course is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 11, and will cover “Dry Cleaning 101 and Machine Maintenance.”
The school will also host “Pressing and Finishing” on Monday, October 9, and  “Leathers, Gowns, Wedding Dresses and Rugs” on Saturday, November 13.
All three courses will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. Space is limited so students are advised to register early.
The cost is $75 per person for CCA members and $125 per person for non-members. The fee includes coffee and donuts for each student; however, lunch will not be provided.
Discounted registration is available for cleaners who send two or more employees to the same class. For more information, contact the CCA office at (916) 325-9990.
Drycleaners located in the southern portion of the state will also have some opportunities in the near future to update their California Air Resources Board requirements, as well.
Cleaners who fail to become certified in Air Toxic Control Measure Training (Title 17, Calif. Code of Reg. Section 93110), can be subject to a minimum fine of $150 for not having a valid certificate posted on the premises of their business.
Dallons Environmental Services will be hosting C.A.R.B. classes on varous upcoming Saturdays in Long Beach, CA.
Upcoming dates include: September 25, October 30 and November 27.
Classes are limited to 30 people and pre-paid registration is required. Those seeking initial certification must pay $150 each. Those seeking their three-year recertification pay only $75 each.

ODCA sets schedule for convention
Every year, the Oregon Dry Cleaners Association changes the venue of its annual convention for the convenience of its members all throughout the state. This year, the event will be held at the Eugene Hilton & Conference Center, located at 66 East 6th Ave., from October 8-10.
Attendees can capitalize on a discounted room rate of $99 per night for single/double occupancy. Reservations can be made by calling (541) 342-2000 and mentioning the ODCA convention.
In addition to offering tabletop displays, the association will also offer educational seminars. Topics and speakers are expected to be announced soon.
On Sunday, ODCA will also a general membership meeting in the morning, followed by a board meeting.
